The historic Queen Mary in Long Beach transforms into a haunted ship at night for Shipwreck. Shipwreck has a total of 6 terrifying and fun attractions (5 mazes and 1 dance floor). Below are several tips to enjoy Shipwreck. Also make sure to check out the review for the mazes and attractions.
More pictures can be found in our photo gallery.
Tips:
1) It gets pretty hot and stuffy in the mazes, especially the ones inside the ship. I suggest only bringing a light jacket if it gets a bit cold. When I went, it was a pretty warm night so I didn’t even bring a jacket and I wasn’t cold at all.
2) Go to Paranoia House of Horrors first. It’s the best maze and no one should miss it.
3) Watch where you’re going, especially inside the ship. It’s dark and you’ll be going through a couple of stairs. Take your time and make sure you don’t trip or fall.
4) Ticket is $29 per person and $15 for parking. Better to go as a group to share the parking fees, plus you’ll have more fun once you’re inside the mazes.
5) You have probably read this tip before on my previous articles but bring water. You don’t want to be looking for a water fountain every time you get thirsty. Make sure to drink H20 when you feel a bit tired, you’re probably getting dehydrated.

Maze Reviews:
Going to separate the maze reviews based on the ones that were in the Queen Mary and the ones by the port.
Inside the Queen Mary:
Paranoia House Of Horrors –The long corridors and narow hallways made this the scariest maze I’ve experienced. You see limbs hanging all over the place with creepy lighting to boot. I’m not going to spoil the scariest parts but there were really cool scare tactics that I’ve never seen at other mazes. Another highlight is going through a bridge and seeing what’s underneath. I wanted get out of this maze as soon as possible, it was that scary.
Grade: A+
Blackbeard’s Revenge – The maze started out really great and the pirates screaming at you added to the experience. The best part was the bride appearing out of nowhere from the mist. CREEPY! This is all happened in the first couple of minutes and the rest of the maze just couldn’t live up to it. I wish they saved the best for last but definitely worth checking out for the bride.
Grade: B+
Isolation Ward – This maze is a mental ward overrun by psychotic patients. This maze was frightening because the “psychos” will follow you throughout the whole maze screaming and threatening you. Also watch out for the caged inmates, they’ll find a way to escape and chase you down. Some parts were really well done with the gurney’s and operating tables.

Attraction & Mazes on the Port:
Vampire Village – This maze consists of blood suckers trying to bite your neck. I jumped a couple of times because it was really dark and out of nowhere, a monster would just jump at you. The props were nice but I wished they had more. They also used nifty tricks that I didn’t expect at all.
Grade: B
Psychedelich Krazy Klown Maze – I heard a lot of screams but this maze wasn’t for me. Clowns just don’t scare me. If you’re afraid of clowns and want to get freaked out, you should check it out because it’ll definitely make you jump.
Grade: C+
The Graveyard – Think of your typical hip club playing top 40 songs. Only this one has fog, a hearse and several tombstones. Monsters are also boogying on the dance floor. The music from this attraction is so loud that it can be heard everywhere, even on top of the Queen Mary. This might ruin the scary mood for the attendees but if you like to party to like me, the music will just energize and pump you up.

Conclusion:
I’ve attended Knott’s Scary Farm and Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights and the mazes at the Shipwreck were the best. The best ones were inside the ship and they put it to goood use. Also knowing that you’re in a real historic ship really adds to the creepiness. The Graveyard is a nice addition if you like to dance. It’s your bad ass club without the annoying bouncers (big shout out to the friendly staff, especially Easy (sp?), he gave us great tips) I’d recommend Shipwreck to anybody who wants to get scared and party on the same night!

Im assuming a walk in Los Angeles might have your bones shaking??? This attraction by far can be walk in the park for a toddler, pre-teen. This is the worst haunted attraction ever. The “performers” or should I say un-experienced failed actors walked by me like pedestrians on a busy sidewalk. Who are they attempting to scare? don’t believe the hype, The Shipwreck is a wreck for sure! The Queen Mary itself is amazing – skip the bullshit haunted mazes and enjoy a day checking out the real attraction, don’t pay extra.

I enjoyed it, when I went, the performers did their best to scare us. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

xav, sorry you didn’t think it was all that. give it another chance next year. This being our first year (we came in for the old company), we were given 6 weeks to come up with what you saw. Next year we will be adding an entirely new maze in the dome and will have much more time to work out some of the kinks. I, personally am looking forward to having more time to create a truly terrifying haunt, and have many ideas on how to mess with everyone’s head. I would fill you in…but no one wants that, it would ruin the surprise. Just leave it at we created this in six weeks, what can we do in six months…be afraid…and bring a barf bag.
