Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Launches Around the World with Three New Prize
Cards,
Replacing the Successful SHONEN JUMP Championship Series
New name, same exciting competition! With 75 successful Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) SHONEN JUMP Championships domestically and many more internationally, under its belt, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) has decided to re-launch its flagship event with a title more befitting its championship caliber stature. The SHONEN JUMP Championship Series will now be called the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series, as KDE takes this series global.
The first event under the billing of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series will be held at the Dulles Expo & Convention Center in Northern Virginia (Chantilly, VA.). Just a stone’s throw from the U.S. Capitol, the Dulles Expo & Convention Center will be home for hundreds of competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Duelists and aspiring champions over the weekend of May 15-16. Countries around the Americas and Europe will be following suit shortly thereafter in their respective nations.
To kick off the worldwide Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series with an even bigger bang, KDE will award no less than three different new prize cards to the winner, as well as to each of the two runners-up and the two winners of the Sunday side event and wild card rounds. Each of these Duelists will receive one copy of each of the three new prize cards: Ultra Rare versions for the winner of the main event, and Super Rare copies for the others. The exact identity of the three new prize cards will be unveiled at the event.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Virginia will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. on May 15 for registration, with Round One beginning at 10:00 a.m. The top 16 finalists for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series, along with the top Duelists of the Sunday Regional Qualifiers, earn invitations to participate in their respective countries’ 2010 National Championships.
Event Address:
Dulles Expo & Convention Center

Duelists participating in KDE’s Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series will receive five The Shining Darkness booster packs upon paying the registration fee of $20.00. As the final list of player prizes is still being confirmed, be sure to regularly visit yugioh-card.com for up-to-the minute details.
Adding to the already stellar weekend of activities, KDE is also hosting a tournament for the new video game, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2010 Reverse of Arcadia. This should whet the appetites of those players that are competing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Video Game National Championship! The company will be giving the top Duelists the choice of their favorite video games released by KDE!
Duelists and attendees alike can also capture their experience by posing with KDE’s jumbo-sized Stardust Dragon statue, or test their skills in the various Yu-Gi-Oh! related video games such as Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2010 Reverse of Arcadia. Duelists new to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG can get their game up-to-speed with help from a hands-on demo of the wildly-popular Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s DUEL TERMINAL. These arcade-style video game machines can play and teach the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, and dispense unique cards to players.
