Did you know Channing Tatum of G.I. Joe fame was a stripper before he became an actor? I had no idea. I’ve never been a huge fan of his work but I have to say, he was pretty funny last night on SNL. Comedy is some of the most difficult type of acting there is and I’ve seen a lot of actors come on this show and basically get carried by the rest of the SNL cast. I didn’t see this with Tatum. The guy definitely has comedic skill and was able to hold his own alongside the other more seasoned players.
The first clip is of his opening monologue where he’s channeling his stripper past while recognizing former clients in the audience, all of whom are denying knowing him. (Starts at 0:29).
In the next skit, Tatum is playing an NBC sports anchor filming a Superbowl Promo.
A trailer for G.I. Joe Retaliation will be shown during the Superbowl. It’s only 30 seconds long which I think is way too brief to really get a good idea of what the film’s about. In case you haven’t seen the full trailer yet, Paladin reviewed it here.
Here are the G.I. Joe action figs that are coming out with the movie.
