Geek Ink: Tattoos for the Geeky and Nerdy #4

best mortal kombat back tattoo ever seen Geek Ink: Tattoos for the Geeky and Nerdy #4

I think it’s about time for another installment of Geek Ink.  After receiving all the emails and reading all the stories you guys got me thinking.  Aside from my album cover tat of my favorite Jrock band(Dir en grey) I really don’t have any geek ink.  So I decided that I would get something to cover up my botched shark tattoo I have on my other arm.  I’ve been toying with the idea of getting Venom from Spider-man, he has long been my favorite comic book character hence my detest of the 3rd film.  But enough about me lets get to some tats….

Favorite Movies: I watch a lot of movies, so I hate choosing favorites… But a few are Silent Hill, Spirited Away, and Battle Royale.
Favorite Games: My all-time favorite game is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, of course! I also enjoy the Silent Hill series and World of Warcraft (although I no longer play it lol).

Like everyone else, I grew up playing Zelda. As a kid, I was so attached to the characters, the story, everything! The game inspired me to be creative, started drawing, writing, and made me really into fantasy, adventure, and just video games in general. I always tell people OoT(Ocarina of Time) made me who I am today. Zelda really was my life back then. I also thought Link was real and made for me up until I was in the 5th grade… how embarrassing. Also you really can’t go wrong with Power, Courage, and Wisdom.

My tattoo is a colored chest piece of the famous anime mech Wing Zero Custom from the Gundam Wing movie Endless Waltz. I decided to get it because of two reasons:

While I already have three other tattoos, I found my love for anime since I grow up with it was very dear to me, and Gundam Wing is my all time favorite anime that opened my eyes to a new genre. The drawing itself I asked from an artists on Deviantart.com which mixed the TBR and beam saber well.  I saw Wing Zero in the show as a powerful and amazing predecessor to all the other gundams in the show, it was amazingly capable machine and the premise of an ordinary human piloting it and ending a war and inspiring others was well hard to pass up. When the movie came out I was blown away with the redesign, it had to been the most unique and inspired mech design I ever saw. Vernier engines mounted in a Feather wing system, which helped move the wing zero out of the Zeta gundams shadow for obvious inspirations in the past. I felt so moved and obsessed with the power and looks of the machine, that as a future engineer I want to build anything with the same inspiration; also that no one really dared to get something like that tattooed I wanted to be one of the first and proud to show what I love.
