Fall TV Preview: Turbo Boost Edition

bridgetcraigforest Fall TV Preview: Turbo Boost Edition  The Legend of the Seeker

The fall season of television is starting (or has already started).  I strip down the hype and give you a night by night rundown of tv series (both old and new) that are worth your time.

Monday

Heroes (NBC, 9pm)- Heroes had a weak-ass season last year.  The dreaded sophomore slump took its toll, but I’m hoping the show rebounds nicely in its 3rd season called “Villains”.  I can’t wait !

One Tree Hill (The CW, 9pm)- One Tree Hill (OTH, OMFG!) has already begun its sixth season complete with torture porn, Coldplay, female empowerment (Sophia Bush was assaulted in the jarringly violent closing of last week’s premiere and wants revenge, Brave One style), and lots of brooding and poetry quotes.

Tuesday

Fringe (Fox, 9pm)- Superproducer JJ Abrams (Alias, Cloverfield) goes all X-Files on us with the best reviewed new series of the fall so far.

Wednesday

Knight Rider (NBC, 8pm)- KITT returns (with Val Kilmer providing the voice) to help fight crime as Knight Rider comes back to TV.  The pilot/tv movie was too much car ad with too little plotting, but this series looks to change all that as the producers have really listened to what the fans want……two words, turbo boost (and The Hoff will appear hopefully).

Thursday

Smallvile (The CW, 8pm)- Smallville starts its 8th (and most likely, final) season as the Justice League searches for a missing Clark Kent.  Hopefully, the show will still remain good, unlike so many series that end with whimper and not a bang.

Kitchen Nightmares (FOX, 9pm)- Chef Gordon Ramsay returns to smackdown some more nitwits who can’t run their own restaurants.  This show is less grating and a lot better than recent seasons of Hell’s Kitchen, though no reality series is as good as the UK Kitchen Nightmares, which ares on the BBC America Network.  Check out both !

Friday

Crusoe (NBC, 8pm)- Friday is generally a weak night ratings-wise for TV so NBC tries to change that with its lavish update on Robinson Crusoe.  It probably won’t last long, but it could be a lot of fun.

Saturday

Go out to the movies, or rent one ! 🙂

Sunday

The Simpsons and King of the Hill (FOX, 8-9pm)- The  has been VERY uneven for a long time, but the film was hilarious and the show still has some live left and this is my time to give proper props to the long-running King of the Hill.  Hill has remained consistent for so many years, and it’s Mike Judge’s most enduring and endearing creation…..sorry Beavis and Butthead.

The Legend of the Seeker (Syndicated MyNetwork TV, starts November 1st)- This is my most anticipated new series.  A fantasy series from producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert (Hercules and Xena).  Some attractive leads, lots of cool effects, and nifty New Zealand locations….whats not to love.

Midseason

Dollhouse (Fox)- Joss Whedon’s (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) much buzzed-about new series finally debuts.

Reaper (The CW)- Last season’s best new series got a new lease on life and returns for another season around midseason.  Ray Wise rules as the devil (and was nominated for an Emmy).
