Our long national nightmare is over! Daria has been released on DVD. The instantly addictive, smart, and funny series was broadcast on MTV back in 1997 and ran for five glorious seasons. It also spawned two terrific longer movies, “Is It Fall Yet” and “Is It College Yet”. The latter was used to close out the series and is basically the final episode. The character of Daria Morganendorffer was introduced during Beavis and Butthead as a smart, sardonic foil to America’s favorite metalhead morons. Daria quickly established itself as a much better show than Beavis and Butthead and this DVD set does justice to the series as a whole. Unfortunately most of the music has been replaced for the DVD set, but that does little to harm the set in general. Music licensing has become a big sticking point in getting many television series released on DVD, and it held up the works with Daria for years. Show creator Glenn Eichler discusses that issue in a frank insert letter to fans inside the DVD set. Picture quality and audio are both solid.
Daria comes on 8 discs, with the final disc containing both television movies and extras including a short interview with the cast and crew, a look at a never-before-seen Mystik Spiral Spin-off script, the original pilot episode and the music video “freakin friends” from Trent and his kickass crew Mystik Spiral. The set is well-packaged and I must give props to MTV for not using double-sided discs.
Brightly animated and lots of fun, Daria is one of the best animated shows of all time. Daria has only her best friend Jane to comfort her as she broods over the idiots and freaks who reside in Lawndale. High school may be torture for Ms. Morgendorffer, but it’s a pleasure for viewers everywhere. May Daria live on forever in the hearts and minds of a whole new generation of fans. If you’ve never seen Daria, what are you waiting for. It’s a must. Much like Daria giving her graduation speech, I’m not really sure how to start or end this review so I leave you all with the immortal words of Beavis and Butthead……..Diarrhea, Diarrhea, cha cha cha !.

I remember this show when i was younger, it was very addicting. Probably one of the few things that my sister and I enjoyed watching together(were opposite on alot of stuff).
Plus it was nice to see a smart comedy.
I will be picking this up on my next best buy run!

I love this show so much. I remembering crying while watching the final movie because I realized that I would not get to see the characters I knew and loved live out their lives anymore.
Finally our suffering is at an end! Our day in the sun has come and I speak for all the fans of this show when I say, “DVD at last, DVD at last! Thank God Almighty, its on DVD at last!”
