Tales from The Darkside: The First Season contains all 24 first season episodes of the syndicated series on 3 DVDs. The very low budget horror anthology has its share of lame duds, but most of the episodes are entertaining. Fans of this kind of format should enjoy the set a great deal.
Tales from The Darkside ran for four seasons. It debuted back in the early 80s and children who grew up during that time period are sure to remember some of the more creepy episodes. The pilot episode features a commentary by famed horror master George Romero, who served as an executive producer on the series. Stephen King even contributed a story called “Word Processor of the Gods”, and that episode is a lot of fun. The episode that children of the 80s will remember most is “Trapped in the Closet”, a creepy tale about a creature that lives in the closet of a college professor. This episode caused many nightmares back in its day.
More cheesy than scary and wildly uneven, Tales from The Darkside is still worth checking out for fans and newcomers alike. The episodes have low budgets, but the storytelling is decent and the series is still a lot of fun. The only real negative is the lack of extras. There are no interviews and only one commentary on the pilot episode. Still, Tales from The Darkside is a cut above most syndicated television series and well worth adding to your DVD collection.

Must check this out now. Is this anything like Tales from the Crypt? I enjoyed that show, sometimes.

Yea its like Tales from the Crypt, without Danny Elfman, and the Skeleton guy, lol. Some of the story’s are very good, some have a hint of borrowed themes from Rod Serling, and the writers of Tales from the Crypt.
