sg DVD Review: Suicide Girls: Italian Villa

This is a good DVD that lives up to the Suicide Girls (SG) level of artistic quality. If you are not familiar with what the SGs are about, it’s about a group of artistic women posing naked for the camera. But, that’s not all, I will explain later. Warning to the readers that are afraid of naked women; this DVD has lots of them, and they will haunt you in your dreams.

The DVD is about a group of SG models doing what they do best; mess around, take pictures, talk about geeky stuff, and get naked all day long. Oh yea, this all takes place in Italy, can’t get any more artistic than that. Included amongst the group are talented female photographers that are as colorful as their models. This video documents how the photo sessions are set-up; and how the models interact with the photographers. Also, the models are asked to explain how they came up with their themes (they pick their themes), and why. It’s a good insight on how creativity is developed, and where it comes from.

I believe that the whole video was shot in a 16mm film, which is very grainy. To me, grain is good, it adds drama and surrealism to the canvas. Of course, this isn’t a surprise as I’m a big fan of the Scott Brothers (Gladiator, Deja Vu, Man on Fire, etc.), pretty much all grainy films. I was able to sit through the entire video in one sitting. Porn doesn’t hold my attention that long. So, is this porn? Yes, in a way that Wine Coolers are considered alcoholic beverages. These are sexy women, not only because they’re naked, but sexy because they are insightful; geeky and bold at the same time!

If you are looking for porn, don’t waste your time. But, if you’re looking to learn about interesting women with artistic backgrounds, then you’d have to watch this! The video quality is good; as I mentioned before, it’s intentionally grainy for artistic purposes; and the audio is solid. This DVD has some decent extras; I didn’t expect it so I’m happy with the Music Videos that were included.

Overall, I highly recommend this DVD for people that enjoy creativity, and art. And if you’re a photographer, I dare you not to be inspired by this video.
