Finally, a busy month for DVDs. Just in time for your Christmas shopping, I give you the best DVD releases for the month of December, including the most-anticipated DVD release of the year……you know the film……and here…..we……go !
December 2nd
Prince Caspian- The vastly underrated Narnia sequel did just OK business in the US while doing gangbusters overseas. The mixed reviews were mind-bogging to me as this violent and action-packed sequel was one of the summer’s best blockbuster releases.
Wanted- The best action film in many years (since probably Timur’s film Day Watch) comes to DVD with a great cast (Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman) and loads of stylish violence from the director of the Russian cult films Night Watch and Day Watch. This is one of the year’s best films, a treat for fans of films like Face/Off and The Matrix.
The X Files: I Want to Believe- Another underrated film, this one tanked at the box office but is well worth a look on DVD. Some great acting from Gillian Anderson and a way for fans to say a proper goodbye to the series make it a must-see for the hardcore X fans out there.
December 9th
The Dark Knight- The best film of the year so far. A dazzling achievement and one of the best comic book films of all time………..uh, you know the rest of the review. You lucky folks out there with blu ray have a badass giftset with a batpod model as a special incentive. Sweet !
I Am Legend: Ultimate Collectors Edition: The film received mixed reviews but fans will want this beautifully packaged giftset crammed with goodies.
December 16th
Mamma Mia- If you like the stage play or Abba’s music and you can stand Pierce Brosnan torturing their tunes…..here you go.
December 21st
Death Race- I kind of want to see this just for Jason Statham………………..we need Crank 2, stat !
December 27th
Eagle Eye – Mutt the Greaser from Indy 4 runs around avoiding evil government agents……sounds like a decent rental to me.

I’ll have to see Dark Knight again. At the moment my best of the year top three are WALL-E, In Bruges and The Bank Job.
