Over the past few days, DC has confirmed that 0 issues will be released this september for the one year anniversary of the New 52. The point of these 0 issues is to explain the new back story of each of the character/team. It is being used as a way to begin 4 new ongoing series, obviously 4 titles have to be cancelled for this accomplished.
The 4 books that are confirmed to end with their 12th issues are: Justice League International, Resurrection Man, Vodoo and Captain Atom. While I haven’t been reading any of these series, most of them have received positive buzz unlike the books that were canceled for the second wave of the New 52 due to low sales and poor quality.
The 4 books that are starting with the third wave are: Talon, The Phantom Stranger, Team Seven and Sword of Sorcery. The decription of these new stories are below.
TALON – Writer James Tynion IV with co-plotter Scott Snyder. Artist: Guillem March. Meet Calvin Rose, the only Talon to ever escape the grasp of the Court of Owls. This former assassin of the Court is trying to live a normal life … but that’s impossible when he’s being hunted by his former masters!
SWORD OF SORCERY – Writer: Christy Marx. Artist: Aaron Lopresti. Featuring the return of Amethyst, Amy Winston leads a strange life on the road with her mother and resents it. She’s about to learn it’s all been necessary when she discovers she’s the lost princess of Gemworld—and she’s being hunted by her murderous aunt. With a back-up story written by Tony Bedard with art by Jesus Saiz, set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the monstrous warrior Beowulf is charged with finding and defeating the evil Grendel.
THE PHANTOM STRANGER – Writer: Dan DiDio. Artist: Brent Anderson. Spinning out of his recent appearances in JUSTICE LEAGUE and DC’s Free Comic Book Day story, learn more about the true origin of The Phantom Stranger and his connection to the mysterious Pandora.
TEAM SEVEN – Writer: Justin Jordan. Artist: Jesus Merino. Set in the early days of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, threads of the entire DC Universe collide. As Superman emerges, so does the world’s counter measures against him and his kind. Team 7 is composed of Dinah Lance, Amanda Waller, Steve Trevor, John Lynch, Alex Fairchild, Cole Cash, Slade Wilson — and their story will change everything you know about DC COMICS-THE NEW 52.
So what do you guys think of this recent news? Has one of your series been canceled yet and if so, do you think these new series might fill the gap? Are you as excited for these new 0 issues like I am? Give me your thoughts in the comments section below.

As much as I love The Court Of Owls, DC is overdoing the story arc. The more the Talons are revealed, the less scary they are.
I’m not a fan of DC having “Zero” again. It seems like another gimmick to keep the sales up.
The Batman annual with Mr. Freeze that recently came out was actually pretty dark which I enjoyed. Did you read that yet?

Actually yes I enjoyed it fairly well, I liked the new connection Freeze had to Bruce Wayne and Batmans conversation with him at the end about how Freeza doesnt understand what love really is.
And I do agree with you on the Talon thing but atleast the story arc is over soon so it wont over stay its welcome.
I like DC doing the 0 issues, but I dont think Batman and Green Lantern need them, those 2 are pretty much the same as they were pre New 52, their histories are just condensed now, however huge chunk of the others do need some explenation.
