This week, we are featuring Sarah for our cosplayer segment. Sarah has been cosplaying for 4 years and besides being into anime, her hobbies include AMV’s, music, drawing and hanging out with her friends. Let’s find out more about Sarah’s cosplaying experience:
NERDSociety (NS): Why cosplay?
Sarah: The idea that you can wear something out of the ordinary for a few days and just put yourself in the shoes of your favorite character of a show you love. It feels good!
Sarah: 4 times, one for every year I’ve gone at Anime Expo. I like to cosplay as a different character every year, it’s more interesting that way.
Sarah: For the first few years I had purchased costumes online, but I had decided to design the Pikachu costume I made this year. That way it’s different than some other cosplayers’ and gives me a really good feeling knowing I can create my own costume.
NS: Do you study the character’s mannerisms before you cosplay?
Sarah: To tell you the truth, I actually don’t. But that might be something to think about for next year.
NS: What’s your favorite moment from cosplaying?
Sarah: For me, it’s the atmosphere of the conventions. Just walking around in your costume in general. It’s pretty cool seeing other costumes as well.
NS: Any interesting stories?
Sarah: Well I have had a couple of people take pictures of me with their cell phone; and my friend had joked that I could be a new wallpaper. Gotta love technology.
NS: How long did it take you to create the Pikachu outfit?
Sarah: It took about a month to make the outfit due to me being lazy; but if I worked at a consistent pace everyday it would probably take a week.
NS: What are you planning to dress up as in future cons?
Sarah: Well I’m getting really into Pokemon cosplay so I’ll probably be showing up as another pokemon. Don’t know which one yet.
End Of Interview
Thanks for the interview Sarah. We can’t wait for your next Pokemon costume 🙂
