Driver for the Dead #2, not as good as the first one, but fun nonetheless. The story starts with Alabaster Graves picking up the dead body of Mose Freeman. Graves is accompanied by Freeman’s great granddaughter. She asks him how he became the Driver of the Dead. Partly because Graves’ father was a race-car driver, so that explains the driving skills.
Meanwhile, the necromancer bad guy, Uriah Fallow, is out and about, taking body parts from “gifted” people. He collects body parts so he can gain their powers. Fallow finds out that Graves is traveling with Freeman’s body. So, he sends his men to wait for Graves in the swamps.
Overall, this is an enjoyable read. It’s nothing original, but perfect for Halloween. The art is amazing as the muted colors set a creepy atmosphere of New Orleans. Oh, did I mention that there is a werewolf involved?
