I just got back from an opening night screening of the new Street Fighter film.  It’s nowhere near as bad are predicting (or the reviews) are saying it is.  The cast is (for the most part) pretty good, and the story is pretty good, if cliched.  The fights are cool too, if a bit short.  It’s a mixed bag but its much more violent and darker in tone than JCVD’s original Street Fighter film.  The Legend of Chun-Li is simply a much better flick.

The film is all about Chun-Li (which I’m sure will piss of fans of the overrated Ken …

Video Game Review: Street Fighter IV

Video Game Review: Street Fighter IV

sfiv cover Video Game Review: Street Fighter IV

The 2D fighting game series that took the arcade world by storm is back after another decade of hiatus.  Before Street Fighter IV came out, I wasn’t interested in it because of the change from 2d sprites to 3D polygons. Just recently I went to their Capcom/GameStop event and watched the players compete. It took me back to the old days and decided to buy the game.  I then threw my own little tournament with friends. The game is made for the fans that loved Street Fighter 2 and 2D fighting.

Gameplay
Street Fighter IV has more in common with Street …

Street Fighter IV Party!

Street Fighter IV Party!

my photo Street Fighter IV Party!

Two days after the Street Fighter IV launch party at the MOCA in downtown LA, Capcom and GameStop held another Street Fighter IV event.  This time it was for a tournament and party at the Universal CityWalk in CA.  It was a great way to promote the game and now I want to get my rear to the nearest store to grab me a copy.

The GameStop store had most of their kiosks setup with SFIV, except for the Wii kiosks (sorry Wii owners). They also had a Venom energy drink booth, where the lovely booth girls would serve you up …

mk vs dc Video Game Review: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

Hell freezing over, pigs flying, and Mortal Kombat vs. DC. Now we can cross one of these off for things you thought were never possible. Mortal Kombat vs. DC follows the success of another fighting game crossover, Marvel vs. Capcom. The Marvel vs. Capcom series were addicting fighting games back in the day. You have your favorite Capcom characters like Ryu and Strider battling against Marvel characters like Wolverine and Spider-Man. It was only a matter of time that Capcom and Marvel would have to settle their differences and face a bigger threat.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was a crossover …

Killzone 2 Demo Impressions

Killzone 2 Demo Impressions

John Spartan informed me last night that the Killzone 2 demo is out for the PS3.  Then I was told that it was only exclusive for the European owners and customers who pre-ordered the game at Gamestop (what’s the point of releasing a demo to people that pre order the game?).  But Spartan told me about a loophole to download it from the European server:

– Create  a new user
– Go to the PSN store
– Choose Europe as your country
– Download the demo
– Create online account and use a European address.  Google maps is your friend.

I’m not a huge fan of the NFL, but when the Super Bowl comes around, bring me the food and drinks and let’s celebrate! This year, EA SPORTS and Madden NFL 09 predicted that the Steelers’ win. They had the two teams, controlled by AI, compete with the latest updated roster, and now knowing this, I shouldn’t have put money on the Cardinals. Their prediction score as of now is 6 to 1.…

Update: Please check out our full Resident Evil review here.

Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 puts you in control of Chris Redfield who’s on a mission in Africa on an investigation to stop bioterrorism. He is accompanied by Sheva, his new hot partner who knows the terrains of Africa. Today, Xbox 360 owners get a chance to test out the Resident Evil 5 demo while the PS3 owners have to wait. I have to admit, after playing the demo, I’m not really excited about the game.

The newest addition to the Resident Evil 5 is the option of playing the game …

Why is it that the only non-shooter games I’m interested in on the 360 are Fable 2 and Devil May Cry 4?  …

Ziff-Davis announced on Jan 6th that its 1up.com site is now owned by ugo.com, while EGM’s final print will be its current January issue. EGM as of late has been sticking it up to the man. Their articles have been unbiased and has gain trust from readers, especially since the wake of the Gamespot/Jeff Gerstmann controversy and their Assassin’s Creed review that had Ubisoft running around with their heads cut off.

This is going to affect me the most because now I have nothing to read while in the crapper. Nothing says convenient like browsing through pages for upcoming games …

wanted Best & Worst of 08

2008 was a pretty good year us nerds. More comic books were turned into movies and for the most part, they were pretty good. The high def war finally ended with Blu-ray knocking out HD and consumers finally had the confidence to go Blu. Last but not least, video games are more popular than ever. Here’s our look at the best and worst of ’08.…
