Game Name: Velvet Assassin
Developer: Replay Studios
Publishers: SouthPeak Interactive, LLC; Gamecock Media Group

I’ve been checking some online reviews for Velvet Assassin and if I can sum up the majority of the reviews in just two words, it would be “frustrating” and “painful.” Taking cues from Metal Gear and Splinter Cell, Violetta stars as a British agent in Velvet Assassin, a stealth game that takes place during World War II.

Velvet Assassin, unlike the mentioned games, tries to force you into focusing on just stealth because your health and range of weapons and ammo are very limited. The enemy …

e3 2009 the last guardian uncharted 2 assassins creed 2 E3 2009: The Games Im Stoked About

Well, Microsoft and Sony’s press conference is over, and there are a lot of things to talk about. I have to admit that Sony has wowed me with their exclusive titles like The Last Guardian, Uncharted 2, and Heavy Rain. God of War 3 not so much, but I am looking forward to it.

The Last Guardian

Shadow of the Colossus was a beautiful adventure game that proved that video games can be art. Team Ico has done it again with

Soundtrack Review: Mirror’s Edge Original Videogame Score

mirrors edge original videogame score 300x300 Soundtrack Review: Mirror’s Edge Original Videogame Score

Half a year later after the release of Mirror’s Edge, EA has finally released the Mirror’s Edge Original Videogame Score on May 19, 2009. This isn’t the remix edition, but the actual music from the game by Magnus Birgersson (Solar Fields). The remix album was pretty lame with half a dozen remixes to “Still Alive” and I was starting to wonder how many variations of the song I could handle.

After playing Mirror’s Edge, one of the highlights for the game is the score. The music ranges from cold and somber to urgent and paranoid. The soundtrack includes the …

Video Game: UFC Undisputed Demo Review

I downloaded the demo, not expecting much from it since the other UFC games sucked balls. But, to my surprise, this one is different. This game is very responsive, which is very important in all fighting games. The combinations are easy to throw, from punches to the kicks. However, the grappling aspect of the game is a little bit stiff, but one can get used to it with enough playing time.

The 2 characters that came with the demo are Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Chuck Liddell. Both fighters have their distinct strengths and weaknesses. Liddell’s strength is obviously his punches, while …

Video Game Review: Killzone 2

killzone 2 cover art Video Game Review: Killzone 2

The Helghast invaded Vekta, one of ISA’s colonial planets. Now in Killzone 2, the ISA gets some payback and invades the Helghast’s home world of Helghan. Their goal: to capture the radical ruler of the Helghast, Scholar Visari (greatly voiced but underused by Brian Cox), and to stop the Helghast once and for all.

You play as Sev, a veteran soldier tasked with stopping the Helghan army. Your squad consists of Garza, Natko, and Rico. You’re helped along the way by scientists and other soldiers. The storyline is a little bit lacking, considering that once you’ve finished the game, nothing you …

Chris Redfield is back in Resident Evil 5. Sure he was in RE1 and RE Code: Veronica, but he shared his adventures with Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield. In this game, you control him throughout the whole game with Sheva as your AI-controlled partner.

Story

The plot for the game is pretty straightforward. Something is going down in an African desert called Kijuju, and Chris is sent in to investigate. Near the beginning of the game, Chris has a flashback of Jill Valentine’s funeral. Oh wait, did I miss something? Anyway, the only clue Chris has is a guy named Irving, …

street fighter the legend of seth The Legend of Seth Killian: Interview with Capcom’s Finest

Recently we had a chance to talk to the legend. No, not Bagger Vance. We’re talking about Seth Killian, a legend in the Street Fighter community and Capcom’s Producer and Senior Manager. He’s also the director of the EVO Championship Series, the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world.

NERDSociety (NS): If you had to choose, SF3 or SFIV?

Seth Killian (SK): SFIV.  SF3 has given us a lot of incredible moments and really sings in the hands of top players, but my parrying skills are soft and playing SFIV really takes me back to the core of Street …

Tomb Raider: Lara’s Shadow DLC (Xbox 360)

Tomb Raider: Lara’s Shadow DLC (Xbox 360)

Over at CVG, they have an exclusive trailer for the new DLC for Tomb Raider: Underworld called Lara’s Shadow for Xbox 360. It’s available March 10th at about 1.07GB on Xbox Live. No love for the PS3? I’m sad now.

So now you get to play as Lara’s Doppleganger. Sweet, we get to go in deeper into her storyline because in Underworld, she was the one that blew up Lara’s mansion, yet you only see her in the game like maybe twice, which didn’t feel dramatic at all. The game was still fun even for its shortcomings.

You can check …

Circuit City’s Last Day on Earth

No love for Big Willie?

This weekend I went to Circuit City for their last day on Earth. Pretty much everything’s gone. They were selling almost everything other than their usual lineups; like clipboards, crates, name tags, receipt papers, and tampons (yeah, you read that right). Below are some pictures of what’s left of Circuit City’s inventory (images courtesy of our secret insider, JR).

Looks like a certain lady has uncontrollable problems. Luckily, Circuit City was there to save the day with a lifetime supply of Tampax Tampons. Does that mean Best Buy is going to sell condoms now?
