January was a good month for gamers with big titles such as Little Big Planet 2 and Dead Space 2 released.  February might be even bigger because of Killzone 3 but is it the top game I’m looking forward to for the month?  Let’s look at the list:

Couple of weeks ago, I talked about ICO and Shadow Of The Colossus 3D being released sometime this year for the PS3.  I thought it would be released in Fall but Gamespot is reporting it’ll be released in Spring, that’s in a couple of months!  They also tried out the game and here’s what they had to say about Colossus

WB has confirmed the live-action digital series of Mortal Kombat.  You won’t get the series for free on youtube as most fans thought it would be.  Instead it will be available to online digital retailers like Amazon.com and iTunes for a small fee.

Following in the footsteps of God Of War and the Shadow Of The Colossus (due in fall) in delivering an HD experience for PS3 owners, Metal Gear Solid Trilogy is in the works to go high-res.  Computerandvideogame reports, “In the mag’s new issue (UK’s Official Playstation Magazine), in stores now, it reports that Snake is “in the facelift queue”, and that the “first three” MGS games are set to be reborn in High Definition.”

With Nintendo announcing the release date for  their next hand held system for  February 26th in Japan, the hardcore fans braved the cold day to pre-order the 3DS.  These photos were from twitter and taken by different people.  This one was taken at Akihabara Yodobashi Camera store where 260 people lined up:

This is insane.  I’ve heard of people lining up for midnight releases for movies and games but not for a pre-order.

I thought I’d be sick with mashups by now but the artists behind these are pretty damn creative.  Earlier this week, Kuno reported about the adorable Hello Kitty/Superhero mashup.  Today, we’re presenting you another combo that nerds love: Street Fighter and Tron.  Tron Legacy has really brought out the creativity with fellow nerds.  According to geekologie, the artist behind this latest mashup is Boss Logic.  I love how the costume creates the light source for each artwork.

Earlier, I was thinking I should re-play Shadow Of The Colossus for the PS2 because it had pretty cool big ass creatures that you had to kill and an awesome soundtrack.  But then I already put my PS2 away and my PS3 doesn’t have backwards compatibility so I wondered if there’ll ever be a sequel to Colossus.  It turns out the makers of the game, Ico, will have  a new game by December called the Last Guardian.  Also, they’re going to release an updated version of Shadow Of The Colossus in Fall 2010 which will be in HD and 3D compatible.  …

It’s 2011 and there are already big games coming out: Dead Space 2, Mortal Kombat, KillZone 3 just to name a few. With games retailing at $60 and the economy still in a recession, what’s a gamer to do?
