HBO’s The Pacific Ep. 1 Review

Sundays @ 9p – HBO

Remember Band of Brothers? I do, it is one of my favorite shows of all time. It’s like watching a 9-hour long drama about the heroes of WWII. Now, comes The Pacific, instead of Europe, this mini-series will focus on the lives of the regular Joes that served in the Pacific (duh!). While the first episode of Band of Brothers was a bit slow,  because it focused on their training prior to becoming paratroopers. The Pacific is different, no training. Instead, it focuses on the family stuff, and where they came from. Where they came from …

DVD Box Set Review: Dead Like Me.

DVD Box Set Review: Dead Like Me.

DVD Box Set Review: Dead Like Me.

Dead Like Me is a Dark Comedy about undead Grim Reapers “living” their lives and taking the souls of strangers before they die. Presented to them on “Post-It” notes, each reaper is given the name, place and time when they are to pluck their victims soul before they pass into the great beyond.

While not reaping, these grim characters live somewhat normal lives by either working or stealing for a place to live and to keep food on their plates. (The undead have to eat too!)

The main story focuses on Georgia (George) {Ellen Muth} a girl in her late teens …

Geek Ink: Tattoos for the Geeky and Nerdy #3

Header Geek Ink: Tattoos for the Geeky and Nerdy #3TATTOO TUESDAY! I gave this article a weeks rest because it can be demanding going through all the email and resizing images.  I got a lot of great stuff from people I’ve seen on Deviantart, and I also found out about THE FORCE IN FLESH.  The Force in Flesh is an annual tattoo contest held every year that focuses solely on STAR WARS Tattoos.  Well have more on that in the next installment.

Full DVD Review: 5 Seasons Of “The Batman.”

Full DVD Review: 5 Seasons Of “The Batman.”

The Batman1 Full DVD Review: 5 Seasons Of The Batman.

Ask me a few years ago what I thought of the–at the time–new animated series The Batman and I would have said it was terrible, or maybe to a lesser extent that it was all right. Ask me today and I’ll reply with regret and some comments on how good it really is.

The Batman has really grown on me, not only do I appreciate the cartoon itself so much more than I had when it first came on, but I also love the action figures.

The Batman is based mostly upon the blockbuster live-action movie Batman Begins. It starts …

And the Oscar Goes To . . .

And the Oscar Goes To . . .

HEADER oscar And the Oscar Goes To . . .What a night! By far one of the most unforeseen Oscars I’ve ever watched.  I fully expected Avatar to walk away with everything, but what an upset by The Hurt Locker.  A film I  remember seeing a ad for and thought to myself, that’s a stupid name, just on it’s name alone I shunned it’s existence.

Congratulations to Kathryn Bigelow for becoming the first woman to ever win an Oscar for BEST DIRECTOR, and winning the Ex-war.  For those who don’t know James Cameron (Avatar) is Kathryn Bigelow’s (The Hurt Lockers) Ex-Husband.

No love for District

Geek Ink: Tattoos for the Nerdy and Geeky #1

Geek Ink: Tattoos for the Nerdy and Geeky #1

There is nothing more permanent or public like a Tattoo.  In the movie Eastern Promises with Viggo Mortensen, one character explains that “Tattoos tell the story of your life.”  People you’ve lost,  places you’ve lived, things you’ve loved, obstacles you’ve over come.  They are living, breathing art.

To the Japanese, tattooing represents the very highest level of artistic expression.  There is a museum in Japan where there are galleries of human skin on display, it’s that serious.

Every year when I go to conventions I notice more and more ink, and whats awesome about Geek Tattoos are that they’re such a …

The Last Airbender Trailer Now With More Flames

The Last Airbender Trailer Now With More Flames

last airbender trailer screenshot The Last Airbender Trailer Now With More Flames

I really hope this movie is good and M. Night Shyamalan makes a triumphant return. Although his recent movies haven’t been liked by many, I still loved Unbreakable and enjoyed watching The Sixth Sense.

I’ve seen a couple of episodes of Avatar and this trailer seems to capture the feel of it. Especially the scene where Sokka and Katara discovers the ice bubble that houses a dormant Aang.

Top 5 Super Bowl Commercials 2010

Top 5 Super Bowl Commercials 2010

The cost of a 30-second spot for Super Bowl I in 1967 was $42,500 on CBS and $37,500 on NBC.  It was the only time the game was broadcast on two networks. Twenty years and 20 games later, the cost had spiraled to $600,000.   For this year’s game, CBS is asking $2.6 million.

The amount of production and hype that goes into these Commercials is near movie status.

Here are my top 5 of this year:

5.)  Budweiser had some good commercials this year, if I didn’t pick this video I would have choose the Bud Light T-Pain Commercial.

4.)  LMFAO….a …

TV Review: Smallville: Absolute Justice + Midseason Review and Recap

Smallville 1 TV Review: Smallville: Absolute Justice + Midseason Review and Recap

By jettisoning the tired Lana Lang melodrama, Smallville is quietly having its best season in at least 5 years. Clark is wearing a Matrix-esque Superman getup and is more mature and less broody, Lois is less sarcastic, and The Green Arrow (an excellent Justin Hartley) has become more and more interesting by the week. Chloe (Alison Mack) is a strong friend to Clark and a great leader for Watchtower, and its nice to see her with more backbone as right-wing Chloe. Chloe is often right about having to “clean up Clark’s messes” and I think Clark has taken her criticisms to …
