Ahsoka Tano for kids

Ahsoka Tano for kids

Star Wars: The Clone Wars fans know Aksoka Tano as the likeable orange-skinned protege of Anakin Skywalker.  She`s  also the star of a children`s book with the strangely sixties-sounding title  Meet Ahsoka Tano, by Kirsten Mayer ( part of a CW  series published by Grosset and Dunlap).  The paperback is recommended for ages 4-8, although the reading level seems to be slanted more toward the older edge of that spectrum, about third grade.  It`s told in the first person, from Ahsoka`s point of view, and includes two short adventures: the Battle of Teth from the Clone Wars film and the “Rising …

Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit,” “Seirei no Moribito” – powerful story, amazing art – on Hulu and Cartoon Network

I just finished watching this series, which was beautifully done. It is based on fantasy novels by Nahoko Uehashi. She develops many characters that I respected and wanted to watch grow. Taking place in a fantasy world with many lands and races, the anime follows a bodyguard beauty, Balsa. She gets caught up in a royal incident that includes a prince, Chagum. She must protect the boy, who is fated to bear the egg bearer of a water spirit. It’s …

In a disappointing move for this Netflix user, Criterion has given Hulu the rights to stream their collection and has committed to adding 150 films to Hulu and Hulu Plus with another 800 to be added in the upcoming months.  The Director of the Criterion Collection, Peter Becker, raved about Hulu saying:  “… they get it. As their regular viewers know, the Hulu user experience is exactly what it should be: simple, elegant, and focused on the content. Hulu has built their brand on letting the shows and movies take center stage. Nobody does it better, and we’re honored that they

Otaku(1) Americas Greatest Otaku to Debut on Hulu

Stu Levy, the guy who founded Tokyopop, the American manga distributor who introduced titles like Cardcaptor Sakura, is hosting a reality series called America’s Greatest Otaku. In it, he’ll be traversing the United States, 20 cities to be exact, interviewing different fans of the subculture at cons and such. For those who might not know what an otaku is, the American definition is someone who is really into manga, anime, video games, etc. But not every fan of the popular culture can be considered an otaku; this person lives and breathes the stuff.  The term “otaku” doesn’t have any really …
