Controversy Surrounds Muslim Comic ‘The 99’

front5 Controversy Surrounds Muslim Comic The 99

The 99 is a superhero comic created by Kuwaiti psychologist Naif Al-Mutawa which extols the 99 attributes of Allah.  Last year Obama praised the comic for attempting to open a dialogue between American and Muslim cultures: “His comic books have captured the imagination of so many young people with superheroes who embody the teachings and tolerance of Islam,” Obama said.  Critics, however, are bashing the comic as an attempt to infect our youth with the Muslim religion.

There are 99 characters in this comic who come from all over the world.  Each superhero represents a different virtue like strength, mercy, …

Arrested Development Movie in the Works…?

Arrested Development arrested development 44764 800 600 Arrested Development Movie in the Works...?

I know, I know, they’ve been saying this pretty much since Arrested Development first went off the air.  But if you’re a fan of one of the most hilarioius TV shows ever created (like me), you’re holding on to these little bits of crumbs in the hopes that maybe someday all their promises of a show reprisal will come true.  At an appearance in New York recently, creator/director Mitchell Hurwitz mentioned that they are in fact working on bringing this movie to light, as well as 9-10 episodes that will hopefully air before the movie is released.

Each episode, he went …

Walking Dead Season 2 Teaser

Walking Dead Season 2 Teaser

Too short and a little pointless.

The First Season was a disappointment. I really enjoyed the first episode but was disappointed with the finale.

Here’s hoping for a good Season 2. Glen Mazzara is now in charge after Frank Darabont left. Mazzara was involved with one of the best TV shows ever, The Shield. So, maybe Season 2 will be better.

9283f Darabont Not Working on Walking Dead Anymore

A couple of weeks ago, Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Mist), reportedly left as the producer for AMC’s tv show, the Walking Dead.  Today, it is being reported by Hollywood Reporter that he got fired for sticking up for a director and trying to use footage that AMC didn’t want used.

I liked the first two episodes of the first season and even though the rest were okay, I still watched all of them.  The show lost focus and started preaching about social issues and the importance of family.  Instead of being subtle about it they made sure the viewers got …

Blu-Ray Review: Doctor Who Season 1 Part 1

drwho Blu Ray Review: Doctor Who Season 1 Part 1

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve never seen an episode of Dr. Who before getting this blu-ray.  Dr. Who is about a time traveler and his adventures through different timelines and environments.  The show started in the U.K. and it’s the longest running tv show in the world with a total of 777 episodes and still going strong.  For the past couple of years, the show picked up steam in the U.S. and now has a dedicated fanbase.

The first episode got me confused because it dealt with characters that the audience was already suppose to know.  There’s the Doctor, …

You can watch all of the previous episodes on Netflix stream right now.…

9283f Extended Trailer: The Walking Dead Season 2

This trailer was officially released at Comic-Con over the weekend.  It’s almost five minutes long and rejoins our trusted (or not so trusted) companions as they head across the countryside trying to escape the zomie hordes.  A traffic pile-up thwarts their plans and they are left to fend for themselves.  A bunch of stills from season 2 were also released but they don’t really show anything that’s not already in the trailer.  The official premier date will be on October 16.  Can’t wait!
