Vintage Toy of the Month: Cadillacs and Dinosaurs!

Vintage Toy of the Month: Cadillacs and Dinosaurs!

One of the greatest things about toy collecting is the thrill of the hunt. Part of what I enjoy about collecting vintage toys is searching for those items that I have always wanted to own, but never originally had the chance. Of course, finding that one vintage toy at a price that is too good to be true is always a great feeling. I recently purchased a batch of loose figures from the line Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. And get this; it was all for .99 cents and 4.50 for shipping. How could anyone pass a deal like that up?

So let’s …

Masters of the Universe Classics: April- Blade!

The month of April may have started out for the fools, but the month can only end with the hack ‘n slash style of the evil master of swords: Blade! Not the vampire Blade from Marvel comics, but the very cool Blade from the Masters of the Universe Classics line! He was the only release for the Club Eternia subscription this month so without wasting any more time, let’s check out the first MOTUC release from the 1987 Masters of the Universe motion picture.

081 Masters of the Universe Classics: April Blade!

Blade comes standard on a regular MOTUC card that we have seen for many years now with …

Glamour, Glitter, and JemCon: The Truly Outrageous Fans of Jem and the Holograms Part 1

Glamour, Glitter, and JemCon: The Truly Outrageous Fans of Jem and the Holograms Part 1

The year was 1985 and cartoons had never been better. An entire lineup of animated awesomeness was available for young boys and girls to enjoy. There was a little something for everyone. All kinds of stories could be told on Saturday morning and eventually in weekday syndication. There was one show though that came along with all the glamour and glitter, fashion and fame that kids weren’t even aware they needed in their life.

Jem and the Holograms came out at a time when music videos and high fashion were being given a lot of exposure. Hasbro, Marvel Productions, and Sunbow …

Vintage Toy Of The Month: The A-Team!

Vintage Toy Of The Month: The A-Team!

Possibly the most vintage toy selection shown on NERDSociety.com.  The A-Team action figures–provided by a friend of mine (thank you)–are marked 1983 and have the vintage feel of being on their last legs.  However, we won’t let wobbly legs, chipping paint and missing accessories get in the way of these awesome vintage pieces!

The A-Team was one hell of an interesting show when I was growing up in the 80’s, it had all the …

Well, thanks to the kind and gracious Paladin (NERDSociety’s editor-in-chief) I was sent a really cool vintage Modulok from the Masters of the Universe toy …

Masters of the Universe Classics: Feb Part 1- Modulok

February was a special month for the Masters of the Universe Classics line. So special in fact that I had to break the figure reviews into a two part extravaganza! After all, Modulok and Glimmer are two very important releases that deserve their own articles. I also am slightly delayed with my musings on these two figures, but the articles are finally here along with some fun pictures! So let’s look at the first character from February: Modulok. Modulok. Masters of the Universe Classics: Jan- Two Bad!

Masters of the Universe Classics: Jan- Two Bad!

January is the month that Masters of the Universe Classics fans wait for in utter excitement. Technically there are a few months out of the year that MOTUC fans nerd out over (SDCC I’m looking at you) but January is always the start to a new subscription year; where all the figures we’ve seen images of from the year before finally start shipping out monthly. This month was double the trouble for He-Man and his friends. Two Bad finally saw his release as a subscription only figure for the MOTUC sub. Let’s look!

056 Masters of the Universe Classics: Jan Two Bad!

For a bulky figure, Mattel certainly found a …

Vintage Toy of the Month: Synergy!

Vintage Toy of the Month: Synergy!

“It’s show time Synergy!” This was just a simple phrase uttered by a rock star that unleashed a world of music and magic in a cartoon known as Jem and the Holograms. There are many things that can define the 80’s, and to forget about the cultural impact of Jem and the Holograms s a crime against pop culture itself. Since this is a New Year and a new chance to look back monthly on some exciting vintage toys from yesteryear, what better way to start all the vintage toy goodness than by looking at the name that says it all: …
