collection 1024x316 Toy Review: G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra!

It’s almost time…fans of G.I. Joe—the movie, “Rise of Cobra” will be out as soon as August rolls around!  Until then, we have the new figures in most large retail stores such as Target, Toy’s R Us and Walmart.  Each regular action figure is priced between 8 and 9 dollars—until you go to the internet specialty stores where you can be sure you’ll pay up the nose.  Prices so far are either the same as retail or 2-3 times the retail value.

Many months ago I was able to purchase on Ebay a ROC Baroness

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Maxx Steele

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Maxx Steele

MAXX 1 824x1024 Vintage Toy Of The Week: Maxx SteeleIn 1984, Robo Force came onto the scene featuring a selection of robots with interesting articulation. The most notable movement’s were in the arms which were crimped hollow plastic. By depressing a button on the figure’s back, the arms would pull together in a crushing motion. Both arms could rotate 360 degrees.

Although these figures resembled the Dalek’s from Doctor Who they were far different. Their way of exterminating was: interchangeable weapons which resembled futuristic guns and other assorted melee such as a spiked mace.

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

Gumby 1 1024x801 Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

A lot of great things came out of 1957, the Chevy Bel air, Chevy Corvette, and Gumby. Although Gumby is far from being a car, his bendable body would allow you to form him into one.
Made of green rubber with no other features except his eyes, mouth and a nose, Gumby is embedded with wire that allows him to be posed for the stop-motion animation that made him famous.

The clay-mation cartoon featured Gumby and his friends, Pokey his orange horse, Prickle a yellow dinosaur, Goo a blue bird and Denali a woolly mammoth. They would …

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Masters Of The Universe!

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Masters Of The Universe!

In 1981 Masters of the Universe came out in the form of action figures with limited articulation and a mini comic book.  Also included were their trademark weapons and armorMattel had used the same molds for just about every figure with differences such as the head and color of the body and outfit.  The armor was different for just about all of the figures and in some instances the hands and feet.

The legs were attached with a thick rubberband, and the arms were static with just the ability to rotate 360 degrees.  The head of most figures …

Movie Review (CCFMDS): Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen IMAX Experience Review

Movie Review (CCFMDS): Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen IMAX Experience Review

Transformers 2 Movie Review (CCFMDS): Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen IMAX Experience Review

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen shares a lot of the same positives and negatives of the first movie. It’s an overblown and overlong action spectacle that pulverizes the audience into submission, while somehow managing to be a decent and entertaining motion picture. Michael Bay’s brand of slo-mo mayhem looks amazing on the IMAX screen and the movie is often overwhelming and exciting, till the last 30 minutes when it just becomes exhausting. The novelty of the first movie is no more and Bay realizes this, giving fans exactly what they want. More robots smashing into each other like super-size rock-em sock-em …

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Bumblebee!

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Bumblebee!

In 1984 Bumblebee was probably the most bought figure from the G1 Transformers series. He was inexpensive, had a simple transformation and was well loved by the youngest fans.
Bumblebee came in another color which I remember having–he was red. And Cliffjumper was yellow. There were a lot of stories going around such as it being a mistake or just plain stupidity by the factory staff. All I have to say is, check ebay and you’ll see what Red Bumblebee is to collectors.

Although I have the key chain remake, there is something special about the original. Yeah, he’s old …

Cricket’s Movie Review: Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

transformers revenge of the fallen poster 2 Crickets Movie Review: Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

This movie was a big disappointment.  The story was all over the place and there were no real highlights.  I’m not going to talk about the plot because it’s not worth mentioning.  Remember how the first movie had some cool moments:  Scorponok battle, Prime doing a 180, Starscream taking out the military planes.  “Revenge” doesn’t even come close to scenes like that.  Michael Bay, the director, decided to super size the sequel.  More robots, more useless human characters, more corny jokes and more action.  For the audience, more means less.  Everything is so over the top that …

Hot Toys: 12″ Wolverine

Hot Toys: 12″ Wolverine

A glimpse at Hot Toys’ upcoming release, Wolverine. This figure is sculpted by JC Hong, Hong was also responsible for the Hot Toy’s Joker. The sculpt was amazing for the Joker, so we know what to expect for Hugh Jackman. Here is the pic they sent me with the newsletter. Of course, this is just the prototype, and the mass release will never be as good, but we can still hope. Based on the teaser pic, this figure looks amazing. This figure might be the only good thing to come out of the movie, Enjoy!

Toy Review: Transformers Animated Optimus Prime!

Toy Review: Transformers Animated Optimus Prime!

From my personal collection of Transformers Animated I bring you Optimus Prime in the Voyager Class.

One of the best things about the figure is the box art. The drawing of Prime itself is enough to make you want to buy the figure. There is a full description of the character on the back which features fantasy skills and powers and also a quote.

Removing the figure is pretty simple, there are just a couple of twist-ties and then he comes right out without causing damage to the packaging so he can be repackaged for display and to keep clean.…

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Lazer Tag!

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Lazer Tag!

This weeks vintage toy is the game Lazer Tag! That’s right Lazer Tag, the pursuit game featuring a light-gun and a “Starsensor” target.

It was X-mas 1986 and my brother and I got this wild thing that after the batteries were installed we would strap on the target’s harness and shoot at each other! What a great way to get out aggression!
As in the photo’s the gun was a futuristic hand weapon with a sight at the top built into the body.  By pulling the trigger half-way a red dot would appear in the center.  There was …
