Peter Briggs, the writer of the movie Hellboy, will direct the World War 2 supernatural Panzer 88.  The movie will be about a five man crew operating a King Tiger tank, the biggest back then.  Along their journey in the Russian border, the German crew will encounter monsters.  Based on the production sketch below, it seems like they’ll also encounter top secret weapons.  The budget for the movie is $20 million.  While the budget is low, producer Gary Kurtz (Star Wars) is aiming for a movie similar to Crimson Tide and Hunt For Red October.  Let’s hope that Briggs will …

So you didn’t get the SDCC G.I. Joe Sg. Slaughter at Comic Con and you don’t want to pay the secondary market value, what options do you have?  Well if you’ve made it this far without paying scalper prices, wait a little longer and he’ll be available at toy stores for Spring 2011.  While it won’t be the same package and sold as a single figure, Hasbro is talking that they’ll be releasing both versions, the regular G.I. The impossible to find Walmart exclusive: G.I. Joe battle stations were a headache to find for months. All I wanted was the Heetseek Missile System which was once called the MMS; it was colored green and came with Hawk back in the early 80’s.

Finally, after a lot of patience, I found what I wanted at cost, not 3 times it’s value.

Just what I need another collection! The Masters of the Universe Classic’s collection features some great detail, a vast array of accessories and some fun extras such as a profile on the character. What I miss the most is the mini comic that the figures from the 80’s would come with.

Teela has always been one of my favorite characters. She was the first female in a line of predominantly male characters–followed by Evil-Lyn and then later, The Sorceress.

Talented sculptor, Jim McPherson, has been in the entertainment industry for 20 years.  He has worked on hit films such as Alice In Wonderland and Gremlins 2 and worked with make up artist legend, Rick Baker.  While he works on plenty of movies, I was surprised that McPherson also sculpted a Batman: Black and White statue.  McPherson created the “Batman: Year One” statue based on Frank Miller’s story and David Mazzuchelli’s art.  “Year One” is my most beloved Batman story and “Black and White” is my favorite statue line, so I had to contact McPherson about the statue and …

In 1991, Hasbro jumped on board the anti-drug movement with a line of figures from G.I. Joe called the Drug Elimination Force or D.E.F. Headman is the evil leader of the Headhunters a non-Cobra organization that has overrun “Every Town USA” with killer substances.

In the cartoon, Headman was portrayed as an absolute nut who was pretty clean looking compared to the namesake action figure.

This line of toys had begun the most detailed look at the action figure inside the bubble. The file card describes details down to the characters outfit and what accessories they may have.

From the Good Smile Company comes a Vocaloid spin-off called Black Rock Shooter. The character was created from a song produced from the Yamaha Vocaloid 2 program Hatsune Miku.

For those unfamilar with what the Vocaloid program is: it’s a computer program that sings songs from the words the user types. Hatsune Miku is an Anime themed voice–there are of course more professional sounding voices in other programs such as in Vocaloid 1.

This week’s vintage toy goes to Rambo.  The figure is based on the 1986 cartoon show, Rambo and the Forces of Freedom. Unlike Chuck Norris’ cartoon show which only had 5 episodes, Rambo had 65 episodes.  Rambo battled against neo nazis.  That’s right, neo nazis for a kids show.

Toys back in the 80’s were pretty damn violent. That’s what I love about the era. Our hero John Rambo comes with a rocket launcher so he can blow shit up.  He also comes with a sleeveless hoodie with a bald eagle on the front of it.

Featured in the cheesy shorts of Robot Chicken and created by Mattel, Mo-Larr VS Skeletor presents a great collector’s item.

The set features Skeletor complete with Havoc Staff, a complete sword and a Power Sword half, and his armor. In the diorama box, Skeletor is laying on a dentists chair and his face sculpt is toned green and he is missing a tooth as in the stop-motion short.
