Mattel announced their newest Batman line at Toy Fair: Batman Legacy.  The line is confusing as hell.  They’re mixed figures from Arkham Asylum video games, comics and movies.  I don’t know how they’re going to choose which characters and which medium each series is going to have.  The pics that were shown at Mattel’s booth were Batman, Joker, Mr. Freeze (repaint and crappier), Two-Face and Comissioner Gordon. 

At first I was excited about the new line but the closer I looked at the pics, the more I noticed they were using sculpts from previous Batman waves.  The Joker still looks cool.  …

McFarlane Toys has released 2 photos for the upcoming Walking Dead action figures.  Series one will be released in September with series scheduled for November.  They retail for $15 and you can pre-order them at Entertainment Earth.  I’m glad McFarlane Toys is still affordable but let’s hope the quality control is better than its Halo figs.

Miku Hatsune the aqua-haired diva is probably one of the biggest stars in Japan. Starting out like most Pop Idol’s singing on computer screens after the USER typed in the words on the Vocaloid 2 music program.

From these over the counter roots Miku became a featured music video star on YouTube. She had finally hit the big time and her agent got her gigs in retail sold CD’s, MP3’s, video games, action figures and graphic’s for race cars.

The Good Smile Company has hired her as their Race Queen and Pit Crew mascot.

The SDCC seems to always have the best collectibles and this color changing Orko which was only available at the convention is no less than the best!

Orko was the kind of character that was hard to dislike, his funny voice played by actor/producer Lou Scheimer made us all laugh. The way he would always cause Man-At-Arms to yell “ORKO!!!!” When he would foul up a magic trick by dumping eggs on his head or causing careless damage to the palace was hilarious! The subscription at Mattycollector.com for 2011 has begun and the first figure subscribers have received is Vikor “The He-Man of the North.”

Vikor is a new creation in figure form and has only existed on paper as one of the original concept designs for the iconic character He-Man.

Vikor resembles…Well, a Viking, complete with helmet, tattered loin-cloth and “fur” cape. This concept art reject also comes equipped with spiked shield, battle axe and a sword which is sheathed in a great position–sideways along his lower back. The final detail’s of the figure are wrist manacles with real metal “broken” chains attached.…

The recent introduction of several new Ken dolls led me to think about this iconic toy.  Mattel featured some new Kens this past Christmas season, including  him  dressed in his  Toy Story 3 shorts and loafers, and also wearing a Warhol-esque “Ken Loves Barbie ” T-shirt.  My own history with the figure is, well, complicated.   As a comics-loving kid, my favorite dolls were my action figures, several of which have survived my childhood.  But I always liked fashion as well, so I was a Barbie devotee for a while.
