The single figure for July is Spikor, the spiny, purple, pig-nosed warrior.  One of the most straight forward figures, Spikor is a great addition to the collector’s shelf.

Spikor dons removable armor with pointy spikes that could actually bother you if you squeeze too hard.  His head features the same firm spikes, a great sculpt and some painted up eyes.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back, and Playmates is pulling out all the stops for a totally tubular TMNT toy line to coincide with a new cartoon set to debut on Nickelodeon in the fall. Since all the attention will undoubtedly go towards the fab four, I thought it would be great to take a look at the brand new April O’Neil figure. Jem is her name and no one else is the same! In 1986 those words were what this fictional rock star sang to legions of little girls and adventure-loving boys, as she and her band, “The Holograms” performed on children’s television sets for about three seasons. Although the cartoon didn’t have a proper ending, it was good enough for fans to have a form of closure as the show came to an end in mid 1988.

“Got to get tough, YO JOE!” Man, was this a blast from the past, I remember 1991 where I was getting older and my interest was starting to wane from the usual cartoons; however, I never missed G.I. Joe.

The last 2 seasons of G.I. Joe were made by DiC who is famous for ‘Inspector Gadget’ and ‘Kidd Video’ and are known for really nice cartoon art and great voice acting and this final series of G.I. Joe really showcased some fine voice work.

The Griffin is an over-sized and over-priced beast monster that really had no purpose except in the 200X cartoon where the villains would ride it into battle. Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo line is one of the hottest collectibles on the market and they’ll make it even more popular by adding the Star Wars Universe.  The latest announcement is for Jaina Solo.  Just like you I asked who the heck is she?  It turns out she’s the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia and she’s got the power of the force.  Expect the figure to be released around October with a price around $50.

Check out the pic of the Space Jockeys’ from Prometheus.  Not much what explained what they did in the movie but what’s obvious is the cool design and very H.R. Giger-esque.  There’s an interesting theory that the suit became part of their body that’s why the design looks like a Xenomorph.  Figure comes out in September.

I was really looking forward to this Bane statue.  It’s inspired from Kelley Jones’ art from the Knightfall series.  Instead of making Bane menacing, he looks like a goofball.  Adding insult to injury, the statue will retail for $100.  This means most shops will sell him for $85 instead of the regular $70 price tag.
