Evangelion: Makinami Mari Illustrious!

Evangelion: Makinami Mari Illustrious!

Years after Evangelion went by the way side but remained in the memories of fans, Hideaki Anno revived the series in 2007 with The Rebuild of Evangelion. The Rebuild is a series of movies that take a lot from the original Anime series and updates it with cleaner, more modern art and animation and alterations to the story through the plotlines and even whole scenes are changed in order to give the Rebuild of Evangelion a new look.

The first movie, “You are (NOT) Alone” features the introduction of Shinji and Rei along with all of the other recurring characters. …

Masters of the Universe Classics: Feb- Ram Man & Jitsu

Masters of the Universe Classics: Feb- Ram Man & Jitsu

February was a big month for fans of Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics. Two heavy hitters were released together: Ram Man and Jitsu. These two fan favorites have long been wanted on many collectors’ lists, so let’s check out some of the goods, starting with Jitsu!

Jitsu is a standard MOTUC figure and dubbed the Evil Master of Martial Arts. The coloring for Jitsu is nice and bold. He also comes with a large golden fist fixed in a chopping pose. A katana and two kama swords are also included. The kama swords also snap into his back. Jitsu also …

Shirt Review: Bigfoot I Want To Believe

Shirt Review: Bigfoot I Want To Believe

I Want to Believe” is the title that Threadless gave this shirt, and it makes sense. The shirt design is amazingly goofy, but in a good way. It consists of mythical creatures like the Bigfoot, Lochness monster, and UFOs.

The style of the design is fun and sarcastic, a little like a spray paint wall graffiti. It’s definitely something our grandmas would wear. And, that’s what makes it funny. The Bigfoot is carrying an Alien like a baby, obviously parodying classical religious paintings. To be honest, the art raises more questions than answers, which I think is the point. …

Comic Book Review: Batman Death of the Family

Comic Book Review: Batman Death of the Family

Since the New 52 started back in September of 2011, one writer has gone above and beyond with his work, and that man is Scott Snyder. While he’s made a name for himself with his horror indie book Severed, his work at Vertigo/DC with Swamp Thing and American Vampire, all of which have garnered critical acclaim and fan acclaim and earning him several awards. His Batman work is what I truly love him for and Death of the Family is no different in that respect.

Please note that this is a review of the core storyline that went from Batman #13 …

Video Game Review: Aliens Colonial Marines (PC)

Video Game Review: Aliens Colonial Marines (PC)

Aliens Colonial Marines is a very troubled game and has been since its development started almost 7 years ago when SEGA announced it. Many developers have taken a swing at the title but it was seemingly never going to come out and would probably become a vaporware legend on the level of Duke Nukem Forever. Then in late 2011, Gearbox Software the developers of Borderlands and Brothers in Arms took the up the responsibility of finally finishing the game.

For over a year we were bombarded with all sorts of cool gameplay videos and trailers that showed a game that could …

Girls Who Rule! Classic Jem!

Girls Who Rule! Classic Jem!

At the end of 2012 Hasbro and Integrity Toys released the first wave of all new highly collectible Jem and the Holograms dolls. These are the first all new Jem dolls since, well, the vintage dolls came out in the late 80’s. The first wave included Classic Jem, Jerrica Benton, Synergy, and Rio Pacheco. There was also a special edition Hollywood Jem sold at the 2012 San Diego Comic Con this past Summer. So with an all new design and new price to go with inflation, I thought it would be great to check out the all new and outrageous Classic …

DMC: Devil May Cry was revealed to the world at the Tokyo Game Show back in late 2010 and it was understandably meet with much controversy. It would be the first in the series that would not be developed internally by Capcom but a new 3rd party studio, Ninja Theory, a developer with two releases under its belt, Heavenly Sword and Enslaved Odyssey to the west. Both of these had the hack & slash, action that the old DMC was known for, despite the developers experience with the genre the announcement that it would be a reboot and the reveal of …

Figma Fanatic! Yomi Takanashi and Dead Master!

Figma Fanatic! Yomi Takanashi and Dead Master!

From Black Rock Shooter we have a pair of Japanese Figma action figures of Yomi Takanashi and her other self, Dead Master. I’ve been a fan of Black Rock Shooter since I first heard about it in the States or the “online world.” Oddly, for having somewhat of a worldwide popularity, nothing has been created in the U.S. at the time of this review. There is no dubbed version of the Anime, either the OVA that came with the Figma or Nendroid of BRS or the eight episode TV series that has the “Insane” BRS Figma packaged with it. There are …

Masters of the Universe Classics: Jan- Netossa

It is time for a look at the start of an all new year for Masters of the Universe Classics! 2013 is seeing the start of a really special year for MOTUC fans with the release of Netossa a member of the Great Rebellion. Netossa is the captivating beauty from Etheria and shows just what makes the Princess of Power characters so special to the MOTUC line.

Before we get to the figure, it is important for a brief toy history lesson to truly understand why Netossa’s release is so important. There was once a time in the not so distant …

The Legend of Korra Season 1 Review/Analysis

The Legend of Korra Season 1 Review/Analysis

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a show comparable in quality to Batman The Animated series, both shows gave us the viewers deep and engaging stories, likeable and very real characters and some of the finest animation work done by a team in North America, a place that has mostly abandoned traditional animation in favor of a CGI one which almost always looks like a low budget rip off of the Incredibles.

But all good things must come to an end and so did Avatar: TLA in 2008 however even before the show reached its mostly satisfying conclusion, rumors of a sequel …
