Comic Book Review: Star Wars: Darth Maul – Death Sentence

Darth Maul Death Sentence Tom Taylor Comic Book Review: Star Wars: Darth Maul – Death Sentence Darth Mauls return to the Star Wars universe was met with much controversy. The character had other actually come back a few times in the EU. Once as a clone who fought Darth Vader to the death because he saw him as an unworthy Sith Lord. Once as a personality PROXY used to fight his master Starkiller in FU1. But his return in Clone Wars Season 4 was the first time the original Maul from Phantom Menace would be coming back in a canon story. I personally had the same thought process as when Jason Todd came back. If they manage …

UncannyAvengers01 001a 675x1024 Comic Book Review: Uncanny Avengers Volume 1

Oh pre-Marvel NOW Rick Remender, where for art thou? Once you were my favorite writer with titles like Venom and Uncanny X-Force knocking it out of the park each and every issue, you gave us fun and emotional stories, great character interaction and one of the most gut wrenching comic books I’ve ever read, so what the hell happened to you?! The first story arc of what’s supposedly the flagship book of the Marvel NOW initiative is so full of nonsensical bullshit Im surprised it wasn’t by Dan Slott!

The story begins with Wolverine holding a funeral for Charles Xavier, who …

XO TPB VOL 001 658x1024 Comic Book Review: X O Manowar Volume 1

A comic book I constantly kept hearing about was X-O Manowar. All my friends kept going on and on about how awesome it was, that it was fantastic and interesting sci-fi/superhero comic and so on and so on. So I decided to pick up the first trade which has the first 4 issues, and I was blown away. Mostly because I usually hate superhero comics in space, unless its a comic book about a sc-fi series along the lines of Star Wars or Mass Effect, a sci-fi comic almost always brings me to the brink of failing into a coma from …

Figma Fanatic: Haruhi Suzumiya!

Now, here is a piece of Figma, action figure history! Haruhi Suzumiya from the Anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is literally the second regular Figma ever made. Officially, Haruhi is the forth, with the first being an inclusion with the Suzumiya Play Station game, followed by fellow SOS brigade member Yuki Nagato as the first Figma from the regular series and a second special figure Lelouch from Code Geass being the third. So, regardless of the 2 special edition figures that broke the manufacturing order, Haruhi is the second Figma ever made—2008 was truly a good …

Movie Review: Iron Man 3 (Minor Spoilers!!!)

1 1024x435 Movie Review: Iron Man 3 (Minor Spoilers!!!)

Iron Man 3 was easily my most anticipated film of the year, bar none. After the surprising success of the Avengers on both a critical and commercial level, I thought Marvel could do no wrong. The marketing behind Iron Man 3 plus the many trailers and interviews all gave me, and probably me other people, the idea that it would be a much more serious film and it would have a major character arc for Tony Stark.

Director Shane Black and company all talked about how Tony would be left with nothing, how he would have to go underground in order …

BioShock Infinite 18 1024x583 Video Game Review: Bioshock Infinite

Let’s face it; we’ve all seen all the promotion videos, trailers, interviews concerning this particular game. Ever since it was first shown back in August of 2010, Bioshock Infinite has been a hotly anticipated game. Before it came out, the developers promised to recapture the magic of the original Bioshock while crafting a story filled with mature themes, a companion that you truly care about and a fresh new world to explore. While it does manage to fulfill many of the promises made before release. It also suffers from some pretty glaring issues that many reviewers and gamers have seemingly chosen …

Blu-ray Review: Lincoln

Blu-ray Review: Lincoln

lincoln Blu ray Review: Lincoln

Lincoln is a Steven Spielberg film with great acting and production value.  It was a hit with the audience and earned Daniel Day-Lewis a best actor Oscar.

For me, it was mediocre.

The way the story is presented is fascinating.  It doesn’t show big Civil War battles and focuses on the passing of the 13th amendment, the law abolishing slavery.  As much as I wanted to get into the movie, I couldn’t do it.  Spielberg’s presentation of the movie felt like a stage play to me.  The delivery of the lines sounded like it was for a live show.  This reason …

TV Review: Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 5

Hard too believe it’s been nearly 5 whole years since Star Wars: The Clone Wars debut as a full feature film back in 2008. Upon its release, critics and fans blasted the film but it did manage to make about 68 million dollars at the box office with a budge of around 6.5 million, so it was at the very least a financial success. While the debut and the first two seasons may have been sub par but in the past few years, it has evolved into a great show and has become a worthy addition to the Star Wars Expanded …

Being a fan of animated series on TV these days is not an easy thing. In the last few years we have been forced to suffer through the cancellations of Spectacular Spider-Man, Green Lantern the Animated Series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes and now Young Justice. The show was created from the same guys behind Spectacular Spider-Man and it is arguably one of the finest shows based on the DC characters. The second season called Invasion, promised to expand the team and have one overarching story that would go through its entirety kind of like a big
