Queen Mary Dark Harbor 2010 2 Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor Maze Reviews

It used to be called Shipwreck, but this year, Queen Mary is calling it’s Halloween themed attraction, Dark Harbor and it’s scarier than ever!  There are some changes to the attraction which I’ll cover later but here are some tips to enjoy Dark Harbor:

1)  Be prepared to jump! Two of the mazes are really scary and you’ll wish it will just end.  They’re pretty long too so be sure you’re brave enough to go through them.

2)  Rehydrate. Make sure to drink water after every maze especially if you scream a lot.  You don’t want your throat to be hurting …

The New Adventures of Old Christine Season 3: DVD Review

The New Adventures of Old Christine Season 3: DVD Review

DVDold The New Adventures of Old Christine Season 3: DVD Review

The New Adventures of Old Christine is a quirky TV series starring Seinfeld’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus.  Due to the writers’ strike of 2007,  season 3 is only 10 episodes long.  Christine goes through a lot of crap in season 3 like losing her boyfriend Mr. Harris to her insane schedule.  As a single mom who is also an entrepeneur (Christine owns an exercise gym), she is a very busy woman.  The show does a really good job of addressing a lot of the real challenges working, single moms face in today’s society.    She has a hard time finding a man who is …

Comic Review: Ryder On The Storm #1

Comic Review: Ryder On The Storm #1

ryder Comic Review: Ryder On The Storm #1

Ryder on the Storm starts off with a suicide mystery, a mysterious but beautiful woman calls our hero, Ryder, to investigate. The woman’s boyfriend committed suicide by drilling holes into his head. You think that’s disgusting? This is just the beginning. As Ryder investigates, he finds out that things aren’t what it seems. The writer sets this up as a Noir-style detective mystery, but the story leads to something more. Let’s just say that the supernaturals are involved, and our hero is caught right in the middle of it.

The artwork is amazing, as it will take you into a Noir-influenced …

Video Game Review: The World Ends With You!

Video Game Review: The World Ends With You!

I haven’t bought a game for the Nintendo DS since I purchased it around the time it first came out. I have the chunky gray hand held that allows Gameboy Advance games to load into the bottom while the DS games load into the top.

TWEWY WP Video Game Review: The World Ends With You!

I had the first Yu-gi-oh game and never bought another game in general until recently.

In 2008 Square-Enix released a modern role-playing game that puts the player in Shibuya Japan where the goal is to survive 7 days and complete missions handed out by “Reapers.” You, the player are Neku, a teenage boy who isn’t very …

Movie Review: The Social Network

Movie Review: The Social Network

The Social Network Movie Review: The Social Network

The saga of the creation of Facebook turns into a riveting thriller via director David Fincher. The Social Network contains a sharp screenplay by Aaron Sorkin with rapid-fire, smart dialogue, amazingly good acting, and stylish direction courtesy of David Fincher. Fincher tones down his MTV-style tricks of his Seven days while still adding gobs of style while Trent Reznor’s electronic score meshes perfectly to a post-modern film where revenge can be played out in cyberspace. I’m still not sold that facebook is such a great invention. I use facebook every day but sometimes wonder what our lives would be without it, …

Smallville: Season 10, Episode 2 “Shield”

Smallville: Season 10, Episode 2 “Shield”

Smallville was a bit uneven, but overall another good episode. The awesome villain Deadshot (who sadly, was in the episode all too briefly) appeared in the episode and displayed a menacing charm. He was shot perfectly from low angles like a baddie in an old western. Lois Lane has packed up and moved overseas and Cat Grant has started at the Daily Planet. The opening scenes establish her as a republican go-getter (reminding me instantly of girls I attended college with) who hates heroes and sees herself as a truth-teller who would be right at home on FOX News. Keri Lynn …

Weekend Movie Review Roundup: Social Sucker Edition

LetMeIn Poster1 Weekend Movie Review Roundup: Social Sucker Edition

It looks like a fun weekend for movie fans because there’s a movie for everybody: social commentary about Facebook, a remake vampire drama and a martial arts flick.  All three are getting positive reviews.  Let’s take a closer look at the movies opening this weekend.

Directed by David Fincher (Zodiac, Benjamin Button), The Social Network is about struggle and rise of Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg.  The movie is getting overwhelmingly positive reviews at 98% on Rotten TomatoesEast Bay Express commented “The Social Network is a bland title for such a thrilling, ballsy, intelligent movie.”  I’ll definitely watch this movie …

Uber Guide To Halloween Horror Nights 2010

Freak Scarezone Uber Guide To Halloween Horror Nights 2010

Halloween Horror Nights is back at Universal Studios and they’re going back to the classic horror icons for the mazes.  My favorite show, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure, has a new twist and I actually enjoyed it more than last year’s.

Before we start with the review, here’s some advice so you can have a great experience at Universal Studios:

1)  Bring water and don’t forget to drink! I brought water to the park but I forgot to drink it because I was so focused on the mazes.  So after 2 hours, I was already dehydrated.  Make sure to drink …

Movie Review: Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

Movie Review: Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

cover Movie Review: Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

DC has released another animated movie and this time, it’s from Jeph Loeb’s, “The Supergirl From Krypton” from the Superman/Batman comic.  The art in the comic was done by the late Michael Turner and it’s a compelling story  I’m probably biased with the story because I attended a Michael Turner seminar at Wizard World as the comic books were being released and he was so enthusiastic about it.  As I was reading the comics, I can tell Turner really had fun with the project.  His artwork was dynamic and amazing, he even went with a darker costume for Batman.   The movie …

Comic Review: Driver For The Dead #2

Comic Review: Driver For The Dead #2

DriverfortheDead2 cover 662x1024 Comic Review: Driver For The Dead #2

Driver for the Dead #2, not as good as the first one, but fun nonetheless. The story starts with Alabaster Graves  picking up the dead body of  Mose Freeman. Graves is accompanied by Freeman’s great granddaughter. She asks him how he became the Driver of the Dead.  Partly because Graves’ father was a race-car driver, so that explains the driving skills.

Meanwhile, the necromancer bad guy, Uriah Fallow, is out and about, taking body parts from “gifted” people. He collects body parts so he can gain their powers. Fallow finds out that Graves is traveling with Freeman’s body. So, he …
