Monster High, a doll collection from Mattel that has spawned such popularity that the novel roots of Lisi Harrison cannot hold it anymore. The Monster High line has become expanded into articles of clothing, carry bags, knick-knacks, doo-dads and specials on Nickelodeon, including very short videos on the Mattel website.

Like totally! Polly is right, She-Ra’s sword is the coolest sword ever! Man…this is one girly set, but the detail is just too awesome not talk about.

Offered at the 2011 SDCC and then on Mattycollector.com, the She-Ra Polly Pocket mini action figures or dolls as the girls would call them, are well-articulated and well detailed for their size.

The sturdy outer box has some really exceptional comic style art of She-Ra and Frosta on the front…

The 2011 SDCC offered the first ever Queen Marlena action figure from Masters of the Universe. Marlena came with a partially articulated Cringer–Prince Adams wimpy green tiger whom he used as a pillow while loafing away in the royal stables. Queen Marlena also came with a swappable outfit to go from Queen of Eternia to Space Adventurer.

After the convention a reverse version was offered on Mattycollector.com, this version of Queen Marlena had her outfitted as the space adventurer and renamed her package as Captain Glenn

Aug. 5 is the release date of the new film Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  I`m sure many of us are excited about this CGI-enhanced reboot of  the classic Planet of the Apes franchise.   But before the 5 movies, there was a novel, originally called Monkey Planet.  Published back in 1963, it was penned by versatile writer Pierre Boulle (he also wrote Bridge on the River Kwai).  It`s back in print and definitely worth a look.

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve never seen an episode of Dr. Who before getting this blu-ray.  Dr. Who is about a time traveler and his adventures through different timelines and environments.  The show started in the U.K. and it’s the longest running tv show in the world with a total of 777 episodes and still going strong.  For the past couple of years, the show picked up steam in the U.S. and now has a dedicated fanbase.

Clawful is AWFUL!!! …but, He-Man will defeat him and his menacing grip of evil!!!

What a cool figure for this month. I remember having Clawful when I was young and he was one of the best new–at the time–characters that had come out. Half man, half crustacean, Clawful has a great classic sculpt to the point that he looks just like the original. The new prize of my G.I. Joe collection! This is the canceled mail-away that connected the Rise of Cobra line to the Pursuit of Cobra line. Packaged in a mailing box denoting The Rise of Cobra movie, Cobra Commander slides out to reveal a TROC packaging with the card graphics of the Pursuit of Cobra “chase” figure packaging. The red background with “Cobra” in place of “G.I. Joe” is adorned with art of the Commander himself. The back of the package has an ID card and a letter from “CC.”

Mato Kuroi is Black Rock Shooter. Introduced in the OVA that was included with the BRS Figma, Mato is a happy middle school kid that makes friends with Yomi who just so happens to be Dead Master the rival of Black Rock Shooter.
