From Cartoon Network is The Amazing World of Gumball, a mixed media cartoon starring a blue cat and goldfish with legs. I was very put off by this cartoon because of the advertisements and the fact that it is created with mixed media. However, it seems that watching the commercial free DVD has found me a new show to enjoy!

The Amazing World of Gumball is very funny and features some good messages for the kids, it is comedy based so it is full of slapstick—falling on their faces and other bruising impacts for these poor characters.

Squidbillies, the most screwed up animated show from Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim evening block was rather enjoyable for someone like myself who has never watched it before the DVD. Although I saw many commercials, I just didn’t have interest in it mainly because as a fan of Anime, I’ve become an animation snob and don’t care too much for something so primitive.

Unbelievably funny, Squidbillies can take a non-fan to a constant watcher after just one episode. VERY adult and probably something to keep away from the kids without parental guidance, this animated will split your sides as you laugh …

The 2011 SDCC Hasbro selection was great and featured Zarana in two styles including the vintage theme of pink and blue and the “Cold Slither” version in mostly black with black hair. The sister of Dreadnok Zartan, Zarana was a favorite of both boys and girls alike in the 80’s.

The vintage action figure featured a color changing plastic that when in the sun or heat as it was, the skin tone would change to blue-ish—it looked cooler in the commercials!

Since Legend of Korra finished its first season a month ago, I decided to revisit one of the best animated series of all time once more after more than 2 years of last seeing it. From Marvel, Madhouse and Sony comes the Blade Anime on DVD July 31st. This 2 disk set features all 12 episodes of the series and comes in a clam shell case with a disk on each side.

The Blade Anime has a very Japanese style story with a samurai theme to it. This is found more-so than in X-Men, Iron Man and even Wolverine—other Marvel series’ made into Anime.

Characters return cross-over style with an appearance by Wolverine and new characters are introduced such as Makoto, a vampire hunter who helps Blade in his quest for revenge against Deacon Frost.
