Vintage Toy(s) Of The Week: G.I. Joe!

GI 1 1024x768 Vintage Toy(s) Of The Week: G.I. Joe!

In 1982 the 3 ¾ inch G.I. Joe figures came out to straight arms that could bend but not rotate and very basic molds. These vintage selections are the remains of my collection. Starting with a 1984 “Hooded” Cobra Commander, this was a mail-away item. The Commander had come with a small gun which snapped into his back—this is long gone… Reviewing these Joes brings back a lot of memories and even sadness. The sadness is caused by remembering what I had. I actually had the Terrordrome! Now how does something that big disappear!?

I had a few “Stuns” …

collection 1024x316 Toy Review: G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra!

It’s almost time…fans of G.I. Joe—the movie, “Rise of Cobra” will be out as soon as August rolls around!  Until then, we have the new figures in most large retail stores such as Target, Toy’s R Us and Walmart.  Each regular action figure is priced between 8 and 9 dollars—until you go to the internet specialty stores where you can be sure you’ll pay up the nose.  Prices so far are either the same as retail or 2-3 times the retail value.

Many months ago I was able to purchase on Ebay a ROC Baroness

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Maxx Steele

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Maxx Steele

MAXX 1 824x1024 Vintage Toy Of The Week: Maxx SteeleIn 1984, Robo Force came onto the scene featuring a selection of robots with interesting articulation. The most notable movement’s were in the arms which were crimped hollow plastic. By depressing a button on the figure’s back, the arms would pull together in a crushing motion. Both arms could rotate 360 degrees.

Although these figures resembled the Dalek’s from Doctor Who they were far different. Their way of exterminating was: interchangeable weapons which resembled futuristic guns and other assorted melee such as a spiked mace.

Top Ten: Movie Villains!

Top Ten: Movie Villains!

Throughout the years movies have portrayed many villains, some were over the top and some were under the table. The following list describes ten of the better villains which were attached to excellent films.  Make your own judgement, but you can’t deny the impact the following list makes on some great films.

10. Gordon Gekko: Michael Douglas–Wall Street. Coining the phrase “Greed….is good.” Gordon is what made up the yuppie life-style of the 80’s and was the first businessman to show his true colors. If a remake of “Wall Street” was to be made today, the phrase …

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

Gumby 1 1024x801 Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

A lot of great things came out of 1957, the Chevy Bel air, Chevy Corvette, and Gumby. Although Gumby is far from being a car, his bendable body would allow you to form him into one.
Made of green rubber with no other features except his eyes, mouth and a nose, Gumby is embedded with wire that allows him to be posed for the stop-motion animation that made him famous.

The clay-mation cartoon featured Gumby and his friends, Pokey his orange horse, Prickle a yellow dinosaur, Goo a blue bird and Denali a woolly mammoth. They would …

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Masters Of The Universe!

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Masters Of The Universe!

In 1981 Masters of the Universe came out in the form of action figures with limited articulation and a mini comic book.  Also included were their trademark weapons and armorMattel had used the same molds for just about every figure with differences such as the head and color of the body and outfit.  The armor was different for just about all of the figures and in some instances the hands and feet.

The legs were attached with a thick rubberband, and the arms were static with just the ability to rotate 360 degrees.  The head of most figures …

Lol’d For A Good Minute

Lol’d For A Good Minute

Saw this funny ass clip on Jimmy Kimmel earlier tonight.  My brother youtubed it and I couldn’t stop laughing for at least a minute.

What makes this video so great is that the guy on the computer didn’t really care what happened.  He was more focused on the monitor than his friend making an ass out of himself.…

New Orleans Part 2

New Orleans Part 2

So I covered Saturday-Sunday of my New Orleans here.  This article will cover the rest of my trip from the Big Easy.

Monday:
After having about 4 hours of sleep, I wake up early to get ready for the Plantation Tour.  I asked the front desk which tour was the best and he suggested I take the Laura tour instead of the more famous Oak Alley.  He said the Laura tour had more information and didn’t shy away from the history of the slaves.  I take his advice and wait for the shuttle.  It turned out Brian was also the …
