TSO 2 Concert Review: Trans Siberian Orchestra Philadelphia, PA 11/19 2011

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra brought their awesome show to Philly yesterday for 2 shows. I attended the 3pm show where a very good crowd of 10,100 people attended. Everyone seemed to be in a great mood and the show was terrific. The band played for nearly 2 1/2 hours and the ticket prices were certainly fair considering their amazing “living” stage and the spectacle of lazers and lights. It was akin to being at a rock rave.

Sega to Release Hatsune Miku AX Show on CD/DVD and Blu-Ray

In case you missed the Anime Expo 2011 in Los Angeles, fans of the virtual idol Hatsune Miku will still get to experience her live performance there when Sega releases the CD and DVD on December 21.  According to ANN, 5000 fans attended the concert and also got to see Miku’s buddies Kagamine Len & Rin and Megurine Luka.  I’m surprised Black Rock Shooter didn’t make an appearance.  I’m sure she would’ve been a huge hit.

Pitbull- Planet Pit CD (Music)

Pitbull- Planet Pit CD (Music)

 Pitbull Planet Pit CD (Music)

Pitbull has been on every other hit pop single these days and now he has his own disc in stores. Planet Pit is an infectious, party CD with a lot of catchy songs and future singles. It’s packed with current and future hits. “Mr Worldwide” isn’t the most impressive rapper, but he surrounds himself with a bevy of excellent producers and guest stars. The producers include RedOne (Lady Gaga), Max Martin and Dr Luke, Afrojack, and David Guetta. This is a perfect party CD. “Give Me Everything” is a terrific party starter with NeYo along with the single “Hey Baby”, they …

Nintendo announced at the E3 conference that it will be putting on a series of symphonic concerts which will span the globe in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda videogame.  Symphony orchestra performances can be pretty awesome  live.  I can only imagine what it would be like to listen to some of my favorite video game themes (like Halo Rain) performed by a huge 30+ piece orchestra.  I’ll post concert dates as they become available.  Here is the Zelda Symphonic Orchestra opening the Nintendo E3 2011 press conference.  Of course, this video probably doesn’t do the …

logo Hatsune Miku to Perform at Anime Expo 2011

It was just announced recently that Hatsune Miku, the virtual pop star, will be performing (instead of “live” it’s in 3D) in concert at this year’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles.  The event will take place in the Nokia theater on July 2nd.  The Nokia theater is right next door to the Los Angeles Convention Center, which is where the Anime Expo is being held.

This concert is based on “Miku’s Day Thanksgiving” or “39’s Giving Day,” the first Hatsune Miku performance held in Japan on March 9, 2010.  This year’s Hatsune Miku concert in LA is officially being called “Happy …

EMI Recording Artists Auction Stuff for Japan

I just received this email blast from a former professional wrestler friend of mine.  There is an online auction of stuff that EMI’s recording artists are willing to part with to help out the folks in Japan.  It is said to be one of Ebay’s biggest auctions in the history of the site.

The auction is going on right now and will close on April 21st.  There is a whole list of items up for auction like Daft Punk’s ’87 Ferrari 412 used in their film Electroma,

Daft Punk and the Tron Legacy

Daft Punk and the Tron Legacy

Daft+Punk Daft Punk and the Tron Legacy

While the jury is still out on whether Tron: Legacy is worth the $150 million budget, movie goers seem to believe so as Tron opened this weekend with $43 million so far. That might not seem like a lot but since the weekend before Christmas isn’t known for being a time when people traditionally hit the theaters, it’s not so bad. That Russell Crowe movie that opened opposite Harry Potter a couple of weeks ago only made $3 million. Now that’s bad!

As a fan of the original movie who understands what the concept is about, I fully expect to enjoy …

hatsune miku 1 MikuMiku Dance Program and XBox Kinect

What do they have in common? Big news for fans of the popular Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku, now you can hook up the Xbox Kinect to your PC and use the motion-capture to make Miku dance in real time. Here’s the video released by the developer of the MikuMikuDance program, Yu Higuchi.  (This guy’s dancing is pretty hilarious, too).

Kinect is the add-on for XBox 360 that Microsoft released in November which allows you to use your body to control what the character is doing on the TV screen. Kinect uses a camera that records your movements instead of any hand-held …
