It looks a little campy. I enjoyed del Toro’s other horror films like The Orphanage and The Devil’s Backbone, but this one looks unoriginal. However, since this is a del Toro production, I will more likely see this when it comes out!

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved movie soundtracks. To me, soundtracks are essential parts of the films. Think of horror films, would it be as scary without music? Think of Michael Bay films, if Bay didn’t emphasize of the importance of music, his heroic montages wouldn’t feel so epic. I grew up watching Bruckheimer movies so I was exposed to a bunch of Hans Zimmer and Trevor Rabin soundtracks. Their music are very bold, very in-your-face style where they don’t try to be subtle, at all.

Here are 5 teaser posters for Battle: Los Angeles.  The story is about a group of Marines fighting in present day Los Angeles.  The director, Jonathan Liebesman (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) describes it as “Black Hawk Down With Aliens.”  4 of the 5 posters look good, it has a viral feel to it.  The 5th one looks too fake, although the alien in the background looks cool, reminds me of Predator.

While the posters look good, I can’t say the same for the footage.  It looks to rely too much on CG and it looks really bad.  Maybe …

Disney has just released the newest posted for Tangled.  Originally titled “Rapunzel”, the movie is based on a fairy tale princess that gets kidnapped as an infant and uses her hair to get her freedom back.

This movie was recorded with a Panasonic Lumix GH1 DSLR, which I don’t like. It just feels plasticky, maybe too crisp, I prefer the old-school film look especially in horror films. Hans Zimmer uses a strategy to score Inception that is actually in-line with the film’s story. Now, that everybody and their grandmothers have seen the movie, did anybody actually notice the similarity between the score (Hans Zimmer) and the song (Édith Piaf’s “Non, je ne Regrette Rien”) below?

Through NYTimes, Zimmer claims that the similarity between his score and the song “wasn’t supposed to be a secret.” Maybe it wasn’t supposed to be a secret, but I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t meant to be obvious either.…
