exorcist 1024x1024 DVD Review: Exorcist Extended Directors Cut

I know that most “Extended Director’s Cut” gimmicks offer nothing more than confusing us into which version is which? But, let me assure you that this new release (Oct. 5, 2010) is the real deal. It’s not just another way for WB to milk us with multiple releases. This version really has a lot to offer.

The Exorcist is one of the scariest films of all time. I was hesitant to watch this alone. The movie starts off with a frail old priest finding an artifact that gave him a really bad feeling. He was right. Later on, a 12-year-old girl, …

Marshmallow Man Isn’t All Sweet

Marshmallow Man Isn’t All Sweet

I always thought Stay Puft was all marshmallows but this eBay auction proved me wrong.  As you can see, he’s more human that we thought.  It’s only his skin that makes him different from us.

The sculpt was made by Jason Freeny and it’s going for $760 on the auction site!…

Blu-ray Review: Fringe Season 2

Blu-ray Review: Fringe Season 2

fringe Blu ray Review: Fringe Season 2

The Show Itself – A J.J Abrams production, Fringe is a wonderful story blending sci-fi with “realistic” investigations. I’ll be honest and say that I never saw the first season. So, I popped Season 2 on my PS3 not knowing what to expect. The first episode holds my attention. It starts off with a car accident, but when investigators arrive, the cars are empty. One man ran off, and this is where it gets strange, he breaks into somebody’s apartment, and shapeshifted. Yes, he’s a shapeshifter. The theory is that he was sent here by Aliens. Why? We don’t know just …

Modern Family1 DVD Review: Modern Family: The Complete First Season

Everyone knows that creating a new sitcom that is actually funny is one of the hardest tasks in television. Sitcoms have been on decline for years with their laugh track banality and lame sex gags that wouldn’t pass muster on a direct to DVD American Pie sequel. All that changed last year with Modern Family. Impeccably acted, shot, and written, Modern Family quickly established itself as the funniest comedy on television. All 24 episodes from season one are included in this set along with a generous helping of extras.

Modern Family is a pitch-perfect sitcom done in the style of a …

The New Adventures of Old Christine Season 3: DVD Review

The New Adventures of Old Christine Season 3: DVD Review

DVDold The New Adventures of Old Christine Season 3: DVD Review

The New Adventures of Old Christine is a quirky TV series starring Seinfeld’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus.  Due to the writers’ strike of 2007,  season 3 is only 10 episodes long.  Christine goes through a lot of crap in season 3 like losing her boyfriend Mr. Harris to her insane schedule.  As a single mom who is also an entrepeneur (Christine owns an exercise gym), she is a very busy woman.  The show does a really good job of addressing a lot of the real challenges working, single moms face in today’s society.    She has a hard time finding a man who is …

Faster Red Band Trailer Starring The Rock

Faster Red Band Trailer Starring The Rock

rock faster Faster Red Band Trailer Starring The Rock

Below is the violent trailer for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s revenge flick, Red Band.

The movie’s cinematography is nice but I hope there’s vulnerability to the character similar to Man on Fire.  From the trailer, it looks like Johnson just kicks everyone’s ass and that can get old quick.  I like that the Rock is back in the action genre where he belongs, no more Toothfairy!  His next movie after this will be the fifth installment of The Fast and Furious.

Faster opens just in time for Thanksgiving, November 24, 2010.…

Avatar Extended Blu-Ray Will Have Theatrical Cut

avatar james cameron movie 1024x576 Avatar Extended Blu Ray Will Have Theatrical Cut

There were speculations that the Avatar Blu-Ray coming out November 15th would only have the extended edition but Fox confirmed today that it’ll also have the theatrical cut.  The extended cut will have 16 minutes of additional footage that was shown on IMAX about a month ago.  The 3 disc set will also have over 45 minutes of deleted scenes.  The Blu-Ray will also have a family audio track where objective language are removed.  I’ve never heard of that feature before.  Love the movie or not, this edition is packed with extras.  Good thing I didn’t buy the first release.

Halloween Movie Recommendation: Diary of the Dead

Halloween Movie Recommendation: Diary of the Dead

diary2 Halloween Movie Recommendation: Diary of the Dead

There’s a bunch of Zombie flicks out there, but since Diary of the Dead got a lot of bad reviews, I thought I’d check it out. To my surprise, this movie was entertaining as heck. The production value is cheap, but what else is new?

diary3 Halloween Movie Recommendation: Diary of the Dead

The premise of the story is that a bunch of film students are filming in the woods when the outbreak happened. So, they all got into their RV, and traveled to different locations looking for shelter, only to find that everybody has turned, almost like in The Walking Dead comics. Diary of the Dead is a …

Zack Snyder to direct Superman 3.0

Zack Snyder to direct Superman 3.0

superman wallpaper Zack Snyder to direct Superman 3.0

According to Deadline New York, Warner Bros has finally announced who has been chosen to direct the Superman reboot and it is none other than the guy who brought you 300, Watchmen and currently in post-production Sucker Punch.  This could be good.  300 was a decent movie.  Whatever it lacked had more to do with story than anything directorial, I thought.  And unlike some people I’ve spoken to, I had no problem with Watchmen and happen to enjoy the film a lot.  I do agree that some of the story details needed to be updated a bit, but again, …

Mr. Chow Is Back For Hangover 2

hangover mr chow Mr. Chow Is Back For Hangover 2

Director Todd Phillips has confirmed with Empire Online that the flamboyant Mr Leslie Chow will be back for the sequel.  I don’t know if this is a good idea with Mr. Chow coming back.  He was funny in the original because he was an original character and surprised me with his crazy antics.  If you saw him the sequel, you already know what to expect from him and won’t be as funny.  I was hoping they’d go with new side characters.

Phillips also confirmed that the story will take place in LA and Thai Land and talked smack on Meet The …
