No Stephen Sommers For GI Joe 2

No Stephen Sommers For GI Joe 2

Although, GI Joe received a lot of bad feedback from the critics (what a surprise!), the general movie goers actually had fun watching the movie. I personally expected to be disappointed based on the trailers, but I was wrong. Sure, the costumes look cheesy, and Channing Tatum can’t act for sh*t. But, the action scenes were very entertaining and brought me back to the good ol’ days of the GI Joe cartoons.

Not having Stephen Sommers might be bad for the sequel. He knew what he was doing. Who else can make a campy movie actually fun?…

swan Tron 3 Set For Greenlight

With Tron Legacy closing in on $250 million at box office worldwide, Disney is already thinking of a third installment.  Disney has hired the writers from Tron Legacy, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, to write a third story.  No announcement yet has been made about the story but Tron Legacy director, Joseph Kosinski said he is happy to to do a third film and said the following through MTV:

“If audiences are interested in this movie and decide they want to go back, and we can find the right story and a way to push the envelope again, I would definitely …

A couple of weeks ago, we covered the great score of Tron from Daft Punk.  Well, Medicom must’ve loved the score as well, because they have announced 12 inch figures for the French electronica duo.  Not much details have been released for the figures but they will be released in the second quarter of this year!   These are priced at $230 per figure so they will be extremely limited.

North Korea Airs Western-Made Film

North Korea Airs Western-Made Film

Believe it or not, this is huge. North Korea is a country that prides itself on its collectivistic culture. Americans and other western countries think differently: our cultures are individualistic.  North Koreans, on the other hand, think as a group. They consider that their strength. “The Mass Games,” which is sort of like the Olympics and a Broadway show mixed together, is an expression of this group mentality where something like 100,000 participants, gymnasts, dancers, athletes and students, put on this big show for the country’s leader and for the people. They practice and practice until they are moving as one …

DVD Review: Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales

DVD Review: Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales

charlie brown DVD Review: Charlie Browns Christmas Tales

I thought this was Charlie Brown’s Christmas but what I got was 18 not so entertaining minutes of the Peanuts gang in 5 short stories.  The Christmas themed stories range from Snoopy and Lucy ice skating to Linus writing a letter to Santa.  The short stories first aired in 2002 to fill an hour slot that included the original Charlie Brown’s Christmas and it shows.  None of the stories are memorable, stories are generic and predictable.  There’s no warmth and wit to it.  Kids might enjoy it but  I reccomend watching the original show.

Grade:  C-

Daft Punk and the Tron Legacy

Daft Punk and the Tron Legacy

Daft+Punk Daft Punk and the Tron Legacy

While the jury is still out on whether Tron: Legacy is worth the $150 million budget, movie goers seem to believe so as Tron opened this weekend with $43 million so far. That might not seem like a lot but since the weekend before Christmas isn’t known for being a time when people traditionally hit the theaters, it’s not so bad. That Russell Crowe movie that opened opposite Harry Potter a couple of weeks ago only made $3 million. Now that’s bad!

As a fan of the original movie who understands what the concept is about, I fully expect to enjoy …

Rumour or Fact: Hawkeye to Cameo in Thor?

00029165 Rumour or Fact: Hawkeye to Cameo in Thor?

This idea has been bouncing around for close to a year now. First it was thought that Renner might play Captain America in the Avengers movie. Then he says no but he might be playing Hawkeye instead. We know now that Chris Evans is Captain America in the movie of the same name, and according to IMDB, Renner is definitely playing Hawkeye in The Avengers, along with Scar Jo as Black Widow, the aforementioned Evans, Robert Downey Jr. as Stark/Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as yet another Bruce Banner, Don Cheadle as …
