These are impressive, as a group of contestants at Brickworld 2011 recreated Middle Earth in Lego form. Needless to say, they won the contest.

A woman in Chicago on Tuesday robbed a bank at gunpoint while wearing a nun’s costume inspired by the Ben Affleck film The Town.  The former employee was trying to obtain funds to pay back money she had embezzled from another previous employer, a Chase branch. Too bad for her the police were able to catch her by tracking recent nun costume purchases online and at local stores.

This actually is not the first time The Town has inspired this sort of behavior.  Back in January, three suspects robbed a Miami bank and went on a televised high speed chase …

the adjustment bureau04 The Adjustment Bureau DVD Debuts at #1

This film is based on a short story about two star-crossed lovers who keep making their way back to each other despite reluctance on the part of the “Adjustment Bureau” to let them be together.  Playing off the same idea as we’ve seen in films like The Truman Show, Dark City and even the Matrix, the bureau is a group of guys in business attire who have these little notebooks which contain the maps for people’s lives and magic hats that help them transcend different planes of reality.  The maps inside their notebooks change according to the way things …

The Bruce Lee Story – Ep 1

The Bruce Lee Story – Ep 1

As told by some of today’s best MMA fighters.

I was first influenced by Bruce Lee when I read The Tao of Jeet Kune Do. One can clearly see where he was headed with his fighting style. He was tinkering with grappling when nobody knew what it was.

Blu-Ray Review: Lord Of The Rings – Extended Edition

lotr ee Blu Ray Review: Lord Of The Rings Extended Edition

Lord Of The Rings has everything you can hope for in an epic fantasy: great battle scenes, impressive special effects, cool creatures and most importantly, awesome storytelling.  Majority of the credit goes to director Peter Jackson.  He shot the beloved J.R.R. Tolkien fantasy story for 16 months (re-shots were done afterwards for Return of the King.).  What we saw onscreen was Middle Earth with a lot of history and culture behind it.  For example, each race were diverse. The Elves were smooth and deadly with their arrows while the orcs were rough and grimey.  The Hobbits were care free and liked …

Blu-ray Review: Sucker Punch

sucker punch bluray 805x1024 Blu ray Review: Sucker Punch

Directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), Sucker Punch is about a group of girls in a mental hospital trying to escape the hole through the world of fantasy and big action sequences.

The Movie Itself:
This is somewhat hard to review, but let me break it down. The movie as a whole has a lot of weakpoints. Meaning, there are sequences and scenes that are hard to understand. I’m not sure if this is how Snyder intended it to be, or they didn’t have enough footage by mistake, or simply an editing issue. But, it’s an obvious flaw to the film, …

Optimus Prime Revoltech Movie Figure

Here’s a couple of pics of Optimus Prime (from the live action movie) for the Revoltech line.  I think I like it better than the original cartoon version because of the accessories and weapons you can combine.  No release date has been announced.

Blu-Ray Review: Hall Pass

Blu-Ray Review: Hall Pass

hallpass bluray small Blu Ray Review: Hall Pass

Hall Pass is the latest comedy from the Farrelly Brothers (Something About Mary) starring Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis.  The premise sounds funny, 2 bored husbands are given permission by their wives to live a single life.  That means they can do whatever they want, including sleeping with other girls, getting drunk and staying up late.  I laughed quite a bit in the movie, even though the ending felt unfinished.

The movie sounds a little bit like Hangover with guys partying and getting out of control but Hall Pass felt a little more like a drama.  In the core of the …

Green Lantern Movie Review: Green Lantern

Green Lantern is an intergalactic mess. A lame dud from start to finish. The opening 15 minutes or so have such incoherent and labored narration that they will turn off even fanboys, and put everyone else in the audience in a comatose state. The almost 200 million dollar flick is nowhere near as good as The Dark Knight or X Men: First Class and it makes Thor look like a charming underplayed masterpiece. The acting isn’t very good (Reynolds smirks in a sort of Top Gun-lite performance) and the effects are overblown and noisy. The pacing is also particularly bad. The …
