Michael Bay is known for his trademark camera play, like when the camera spins around the character when sh*t is about to go down. See the video below for a compilation of spinning and dizzying camera work.

On a side note, why did they use music from Crimson Tide. Yea I know, I’m a nerd. But, I follow Michael Bay movies and a big fan of the scores used on his films. Get it right dammit!!!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes plays like a PETA wet dream. All the apes are CG (amazing effects courtesy of WETA and Gollum himself, actor Andy Serkis) and the movie is like an old-fashioned B movie with a strong moral center. The effects are spectacular and the movie itself has an odd resemblance to the documentary Planet Nim. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a prequel to the popular Apes series while also tackling such weighty moral issues such as animal experimentation, human disease, and the exploitation of animals in the name of profits.

All I can say is SWEET!  Now that’s how Superman should be.  I like that he actually looks buff and the colors are a bit on the dark side.

Great trailer, great song. The director stated that he wanted the trailer to be a true representation of the film, but without revealing too much. We know one thing for sure, the cinematography for this film looks great.…

Len Wiseman, the director of the upcoming Total Recall remake stated that the infamous prostitute from the original film will return. It’s not clear how Wiseman’s version will look, but she’ll be there for sure. Better yet, there will be two versions (maybe 3 would be better?) of the character, one for the theatrical release, and another for the DVD Unrated release.

Aug. 5 is the release date of the new film Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  I`m sure many of us are excited about this CGI-enhanced reboot of  the classic Planet of the Apes franchise.   But before the 5 movies, there was a novel, originally called Monkey Planet.  Published back in 1963, it was penned by versatile writer Pierre Boulle (he also wrote Bridge on the River Kwai).  It`s back in print and definitely worth a look.

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve never seen an episode of Dr. Who before getting this blu-ray.  Dr. Who is about a time traveler and his adventures through different timelines and environments.  The show started in the U.K. and it’s the longest running tv show in the world with a total of 777 episodes and still going strong.  For the past couple of years, the show picked up steam in the U.S. and now has a dedicated fanbase.
