So how excited are you about seeing the next to last installment of the vampire/werewolf teen drama from the Twilight series?  Like Harry Potter ‘s finale, they decided to split this one up into two films, both of which have wrapped filming already.  Breaking Dawn will be the first one to open to undoubtedly feverish audiences.  I say feverish because the average fan is either 12 years old or a divorcee in her 30’s.

I hated the first movie but the sequel to Ghost Rider, Spirit Of Vengeance, looks pretty great.  Written by David Goyer (Blade, Batman Begins), this feels more like the actual comic than the cheesy original movie.

This is a perfect movie for The Rock, as his acting is getting worse everytime. He can have a contest with Channing Tatum as the worse actor of the movie.  He was pointless in Fast Five, let’s hope that he’s at least a cool character in GI Joe 2.…

The Darkest Hour is a science fiction film starring Emile Hirsch (Speed Racer), Olivia Thirlby (Juno), and Max Minghella (The Social Network) about five people stranded in Moscow, Russia during an alien attack.  The film is directed by Chris Gorak who mostly has experience as an art director for movies like Minority Report, Fight Club and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.  Screenwriter John Splaihts really only has one other film on his IMDB, an as of yet unreleased sci-fi starring Michael Fassbender/Charlize Theron and directed by Ridley Scott called Prometheus.

Final Destination movies excel at gory, chain of reaction death scenes and over the top gore. Critic Roger Ebert termed them “dead teenager movies” and the Final Destination series has been a good example of them. The formula is so simple and easily replicated that the series could go on forever. Happily, if Final Destination 5 is the last film, the series has gone out on a good, gory note and the final scenes pay homage to the first and best film in the series. PS3 has supported 3D blu-rays for a while but with the feature turned on, it could only play movies in Dolby or DTS.  Yesterday, Sony released the latest firmware update, 3.70.  The update can now play 3D movies while supporting uncompressed/lossless sound like DTS-HD and Dolby True HD.

I popped in Tron: Legacy and the presentation was awesome.  The visuals looked great, especially the light cycle battle and the sound was spectacular.  The bass was nuts, especially when they’re throttling the cycles. Daft Punk’s score is even more epic because it sounds so clear and smooth.
