When I saw the trailers and previews I was thinking this is a pretty crappy premise. Then I finally noticed it’s directed by none other than Paul W.S. Anderson (Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil). Now it makes sense why they’re doing wire-fu in 3D.
The clip isn’t actually too bad. Looks like a James Bond flick set in the Victorian era.

Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is back for the fourth installment in the Pirates Of The Caribbean (POTC) franchise. This time around, Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) are gone and the movie mainly focuses on Captain Jack. The movie was entertaining but director Rob Marshall (Chicago) missed several opportunities to make the movie great. The movie is easier to follow compared to the second and third installments as Sparrow and a group of characters race to find the fountain of youth. I remember when blu-ray was still new to the market in 2007. Many consumers were still wondering if it’s worth to upgrade from dvd. Then BBC’s Planet Earth came out in November and it became crystal clear how great high def can look. This 11 episode documentary was the perfect demo material because it showcased the lush jungles, powerful waterfalls and the serene lakes and oceans around the world.

Snow White is one of the original Disney animated films so a classic like that has to be done right. Two Snow White films are currently in production. On one hand we have Twilight’s Kirsten Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman. The title alone hints at something a little darker, maybe more sophisticated than the original story we’ve all come to know and love.
