Director Shane Black, who is also working on Iron Man 3, told a crowd during his panel at the Long Beach comic-con on Saturday that Warner studio execs wanted to make some changes to the Death Note story and that he fought to keep it true to the original.

One change the studio wanted to make was to give Light Yagami a backstory that would explain more fully his penchant for evil.  Specifically, they wanted him to have murdered a childhood friend when he was younger.  I would think that would take away from the actual power of the book …

Star Wars Droid Hunt Video Slot Machines

DSC01740 1024x682 Star Wars Droid Hunt Video Slot Machines

I always found gambling in general to be pretty boring compared to playing video games.  Just sitting and staring for hours while pushing one or two buttons is not my idea of fun, even if there’s that slim chance I could win a couple hundred bucks… or a couple thousand.  The marriage of the video game and the slot machine is not too far in the distanct future, I suspect, as they have in the past year come out with an interactive slot machine called Star Wars Droid Hunt.

One place you can find these Star Wars Droid Hunt slot machines …

Blu-Ray Review: Cars 2

Blu-Ray Review: Cars 2

cars2 cover Blu Ray Review: Cars 2

Critics and fans alike made a big deal that Cars 2 was the first Pixar movie to get a rotten rating at Rottentomatoes.com, which means it sucks.  I disagree, I’ve seen worse Pixar movies like Bug’s Life (boring characters and predictable),  Wall-E (didn’t care much for a robot love story) and the original Cars (another predictable story).  Cars 2 is fairly entertaining but it really has nothing to do with the original.  This sequel focuses more on Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) than Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson).  McQueen enters a world grand prix and Mater gets involved in espionage with …

DVD Review: The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Vol. 4

DVD Review: The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Vol. 4

avengers4 DVD Review: The Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes Vol. 4

Vol. 4 covers the last 7 episodes of the 1st season’s Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.  The show doesn’t have the most exciting animation and voice acting but the stories were pretty good, especially the final story arc.  In terms of style, I’d compare it to the 90’s Spider-Man cartoon on Fox only this has Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Panther, Hulk and the rest of the Avengers.  The show is very bright and colorful with one-liners every minute or so.

Below are the episodes:

Casket of Ancient Winters –  The team faces ice creatures.  I didn’t enjoy this episode because there …

Michael Fassbender’s “Shame” Gets NC-17 Rating

Michael Fassbender’s “Shame” Gets NC-17 Rating

Michael Fassbenders Shame Gets NC 17 Rating

When Fox Searchlight picked up US distribution rights for this critically-acclaimed film, it was with the stipulation that if it ever did get slapped with an NC-17 rating, the dirty parts could not be edited out.   Of course according to reviews I’ve read, this would mean there would be virtually nothing left of the film to watch because Fassbender goes full Magneto throughout most of it.  His co-star Carey Mulligan (Drive, Never Let Me Go) bares all as well.

In a film that is being compared to Midnight Cowboy, Last Tango in Paris and American Gigolo, Fassbender reportedly turns …

Blu-Ray Review: Winnie The Pooh

Blu-Ray Review: Winnie The Pooh

pooh Blu Ray Review: Winnie The Pooh

Winnie the Pooh is a unique animated movie because it barely has a plot.  The story is structured like a children’s book with a narrator (John Cleese) as Pooh (Jim Cummings) and his pals go through a villain-less adventure.  The adventure consists of Pooh, the wise Owl (Craig Ferguson), Piglet (Travis Oates),  Rabbit (Tom Kenny),  Kanga (Kristen Anderson-Lopez) and Roo (Wyatt Dean Hall) as they try to replace Eeyore’s (Bud Luckey) tail.  Their good deed leads them to further adventure as Pooh thinks that their human friend, Christopher Robin (Jack Boulter) is kidnapped by a monster.

What it lacks in running …

Blu-ray Review: Fast Five

Blu-ray Review: Fast Five

Fast Five Blu ray Review: Fast Five

“Fast Five” is a slick and entertaining action flick and easily the best of the series since the original. The “Fast and Furious” franchise has always been a guilty pleasure but the latest is genuinely engaging and features some slam-bang action and terrific car chases. Director Justin Lin has become a good action director and the returning cast is at ease with the macho dialogue and non-stop fights and chase sequences. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson makes a nifty addition to the franchise as a brooding, sweaty federal agent.

“Fast Five” pairs Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) as they …

At the Busan International Film Festival recently, director Luc Besson, known for such films as The Fifth Element and La Femme Nikita, expressed some ill feelings he harbored against Korea for editing out 20 minutes of The Fifth Element when he showed the film there some years ago.  The decision was made to shorten the film at the time to allow more screenings to be shown, but apparently, Besson didn’t appreciate that.

Besson was in Korea showing his latest film The Lady starring Michelle Yeoh about Burmese Democratic party leader Aung Sang Suu Kyi, who spent 15 years under house …
