This film surprised me. I knew that Sean Penn’s acting was going to be good, it always is. But, as far as the film goes, I thought it was going to be a bit boring. Most critically acclaimed films are boring to me. The character developments are painfully long. Call me shallow, but I can’t stand films that are too long. Well, Milk isn’t one of those movies. It didn’t feel long because the editing, along with the great acting all across the board, entertained me throughout the length of the movie.

T2 – Skynet Edition For Blu Ray

T2 – Skynet Edition For Blu Ray

t2 61 274x300 T2 Skynet Edition For Blu Ray
My favorite sci-fi movie comes out again on Blu Ray on May 19th.  Unlike the first release which had a crappy transfer, this one has lossless sound and a “THX” approved video transfer.  The 1 disc will retail for $29.99.

A 6 disc set will also be released with a collector’s package and retail for $174.99.  I’m a big Terminator fan but this is just overkill.

I can’t wait to watch T2 on Blu.  The sound should be sweet.  I watched it over the weekend on DVD and it still holds up.  Bring on T4, time to Bale out!…

i love you man Movie Review: I Love You, Man

I’ve notice a lot of male couples during my screening of I Love You, Man starring Paul Rudd (Peter Klaven) and Jason Segel (Sydney Fife). But just because it’s a bromantic movie, doesn’t mean you can’t bring your lady friends to the party. Paul Rudd and Jason Segel are on a role after Role Models and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Even though Apatow’s name isn’t attached to this movie, his influence can be seen with his raunchy comedy with a sweet message about brotherhood.

Paul Rudd is Peter Klaven, who just proposed to his girlfriend, Zooey (Rashida Jones), after …

7856520 DVD Review: Punisher: War Zone: 2 Disc Special Edition
Punisher: War Zone is a laughable, low-budget debacle from start to finish.  It’s ineptly written, acted, and directed.  The actors seem miscast (Dominic West is truly awful as the cackling Jigsaw) and ill at ease with their roles.  Director Lexi Alexander shows little of the promise she showed with her earlier work, Green Street Hooligans.  The 2004 Punisher with Tom Jane was vastly underrated, and unlike this steaming turd, it at least felt like a professionally made feature film.  Punisher: War Zone has only one redeeming trait to its name, it’s extremely bloody and gory.  Gorehounds and fans of slasher porn …

7856525 Early DVD Review: Quantum of Solace 2 DVD Special Edition

Actor Daniel Craig renewed the energy and brought the gritty (and the pain) back in playing James Bond in his first outing, Casino Royale.  The massively entertaining Bond film which breathed new life into the bland Bond franchise.  The underrated Quantum of Solace is a highly entertaining action piece that follows the Bourne model of action flicks.

Solace starts with a terrific opening song from Jack White (White Stripes) and Alicia Keyes and plunges us into a nifty car chase.  Bond is out for revenge after being betrayed by his former love Vesper.  Feeling conflicted over his betrayal, and mostly wanting …

natasharichardson1 Natasha Richardson (1963 2009)

On March 16, Natasha Richardson (45) was taking a beginner’s skiing lesson and fell down the slopes. There were no signs of injuries, but hours later she complained of a headache and was taken to the hospital. She was in critical condition and died days later.

Natasha now leaves behind her husband, Liam Neeson, and her sons. This is a really tragic loss and my prayer goes out to the family and friends.

The first time I saw Natasha was in Lindsay Lohan’s The Parent Trap, playing opposite of Dennis Quaid. It was a cute little remake.

As for the cause …

David Hayter Wants You to Watch Watchmen Again

Watchmen was the #1 movie last weekend with a box office gross of $55 million. Reviews are mixed, with some saying, “It’s a pretentious turkey that thinks it’s better than the genre,” and others saying, “Wow! Your ticket price will buy you a whole lot of movie.” Watchmen screenwriter, David Hayter, has been working on the project since late 2000.

HardcoreNerdity has posted David Hayter’s (Solid Snake) open letter to the fans pretty much saying that we need to watch the movie again to get more of an understanding on the things we may have missed the first time around.

watchmen002 300x187 Movie Review: Watchmen
Based on the trailers, I thought Watchmen was going to be all flash and no substance.  Well I was somewhat right, the movie looked great and the story was more involved than I thought.  It was enough to keep my attention.  It’s not the greatest comic movie but I’d certainly recommend it for its style and action scenes.

Watchmen is set in New York, circa 1985, where U.S. and Russia are close to nuclear war. Superheroes have been outlawed and Nixon is running his fifth term.   The movie starts with superheroes Nite Owl and Rorschach investigating the murder of their ally …

Circuit City’s Last Day on Earth

Circuit City’s Last Day on Earth

wiill Circuit City’s Last Day on Earth

No love for Big Willie?

This weekend I went to Circuit City for their last day on Earth. Pretty much everything’s gone. They were selling almost everything other than their usual lineups; like clipboards, crates, name tags, receipt papers, and tampons (yeah, you read that right). Below are some pictures of what’s left of Circuit City’s inventory (images courtesy of our secret insider, JR).

Looks like a certain lady has uncontrollable problems. Luckily, Circuit City was there to save the day with a lifetime supply of Tampax Tampons. Does that mean Best Buy is going to sell condoms now?

Film Review: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

streetfighter galleryposter Film Review: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li

I just got back from an opening night screening of the new Street Fighter film.  It’s nowhere near as bad are predicting (or the reviews) are saying it is.  The cast is (for the most part) pretty good, and the story is pretty good, if cliched.  The fights are cool too, if a bit short.  It’s a mixed bag but its much more violent and darker in tone than JCVD’s original Street Fighter film.  The Legend of Chun-Li is simply a much better flick.

The film is all about Chun-Li (which I’m sure will piss of fans of the overrated Ken …
