Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has arrived and I am on the same boat as the critics. But being in the theatre where I watched the movie, you’d think that everybody loved the movie with audiences cheering loudly at the end. For those of you that hated the first movie, I’m pretty sure you won’t enjoy this one. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen comes just after two years since the first, and during the time of the writer’s strike (Is that why the story is all over the place?).

After a prologue, the movie starts with Optimus Prime and the Autobots

DVD Review: Defiance

DVD Review: Defiance

Defiance DVD Review: Defiance

Based on a true story and with some excellent performances, Defiance is well worth a look. The movie is based on a little-known true story about the Bielski Brothers, who were simple farmers turned freedom fighters. The movie tackles stereotypes head-on and is gripping and often compelling. Production values and performances are all first-rate, but the film doesn’t have quite the emotional impact one might expect from such a powerful tale.

Tuvia (an excellent Daniel Craig) and Zus (another good performance by Liev Schreiber) are brothers in Nazi-occupied Poland who create a forest refuge (and eventually a community) for Jews to …

Early DVD Review: Inkheart

Early DVD Review: Inkheart

inkheart Early DVD Review: Inkheart

Despite mixed reviews and poor box office returns, Inkheart is a rousing and entertaining fantasy film with a nifty premise, and lots of cool special effects. Inkheart (much like the excellent Never-ending Story) celebrates the power of books and encourages younger viewers to read and explore new worlds. This is a noble cause and one that is worth celebrating. The movie itself may not be up to the level of Stardust (the best fantasy flick in many years) but its well worth seeking out.

Inkheart is about a book-binder named Moe (an engaging Brendan Fraser), who is searching for a book …

DVD Review: Reaper- The Complete Second Season

reaper DVD Review: Reaper The Complete Second Season

The CW Network recently announced it wasn’t bringing back its cult series Reaper back for another season much to the dismay of many loyal viewers. It can hardly come as a surprise though, as season two of the terrific series almost never saw the light of day. The CW started airing season two at midseason and then aired all 13 episodes in a row. It ended just a few weeks ago and now season two is already on DVD in this attractive package.

Fans know what to expect from Reaper. A sharp slacker comedy mixed with supernatural elements. Sam (affable Bret …

Movie Review: The Hangover

Movie Review: The Hangover

the hangover poster Movie Review: The HangoverThe final tally is in. “The Hangover” was able to slip pass “Up” and become the #1 Box Office movie of the weekend. Not so surprising because the movie is freakin’ hilarious. I’m thinking “Land of the Lost” wish it had a hangover after its less-than-stellar box office opening (I overestimated the power of Will Ferrell).

“The Hangover” looks like just any other dudes’ night out flick, but it’s a funny movie from beginning to end. You have Doug Billings (Justin Bartha), who’s about to get married to the gorgeous Tracy (Sasha Barrese). Doug decides to go on a trip to …

The A-Team Movie

The A-Team Movie

ateam The A Team Movie

My coworkers told me at lunch that the A-Team is being made to a movie.  They were hating on it but I was excited about the news.  I love the TV show.  I watched the show everyday when I was a kid.  Sure, the story was the same, but it was the chemistry between the main actors that made it so entertaining.

I checked out imdb.com and learned that Joe Carnahan (Smokin Aces, Narc) is directing the movie.  Not a big fan of his because of the tone of his movies; sometimes he makes it too serious with …

david R.I.P. David Carradine

Legendary actor David Carradine was found dead in his hotel room in Thai Land.  A roomkeeper found his body hanging in the closet.  Authorities are thinking he committed suicide and no foul play was involved.  I must admit, I was never a fan of Kung Fu, the show that made Carradine a household name.  I wasn’t a big fan until I saw Kill Bill.  I was really surprised with his screen presence and the way he delivered Quentin Tarantino’s dialogues.  His speech about Superman in Volume 2 was awesome and the highlight of the movie.

I guess Carradine battled with drugs …

Movie Review: Drag Me to Hell

Movie Review: Drag Me to Hell

drag me to hell poster Movie Review: Drag Me to Hell

Sam Raimi returns to his horror roots and makes one hell (pun intended) of a movie in “Drag Me to Hell.” It’s got barf gags, slapstick comedy, eye-popping’ stunts and Alison Lohman mud wrestling. This movie had me looking at my friend to my right for fear of things popping out. You know what you’re getting into with the 80’s Universal logo and the cheesy but cool “Drag Me to Hell” title.

Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) works as a loan officer and is trying to get promoted. Her boss (David Paymer) wants her to be tough and impassive if she wants …

2009 MTV Movie Awards Afterthoughts

eminem ass to face with bruno 2009 MTV Movie Awards Afterthoughts

The 2009 MTV Movie Awards is over and I have to say that Andy Samberg did a mighty fine job hosting it. Overall, it was pretty entertaining, but was disappointed with Twilight’s take over. That’s what I get for not voting (The new Twilight: Blue Moon trailer was actually pretty interesting). The thing that makes these MTV award shows pretty fun are the things that these actors would do to entertain the viewers. And for that, I applaud them.

Here are some cool moments that I really enjoyed:

–    Kiefer Sutherland getting emotional over Ben Stiller’s many awesome performances. He mentions …

 BotCon 09 Recap

Another weekend, another convention.  This time it was for BotCon 09, the official Transformers convention held in Pasadena, CA.  This was my first BotCon experience and I really enjoyed it.

 BotCon 09 Recap
John Spartan assembling Optimus in the car.

Saturday:

We arrived at the Pasadena Convention Center around 1:30 and grabbed a quick bite at Rubio’s Mexican Grill across the street (the taco burger was great). As we were heading back to the convention, we noticed several Transformer’s standees in the shopping center. We took a picture with the standees and a Hasbro employee gave us a Decepticon promo piece that we can …
