Movie Review Remix (CCFMDS): G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

G.I. Joe overcame some bad buzz and lackluster trailers to have a decent 54.7 million dollar opening weekend in the US, and a surprisingly strong 43 million overseas, where it will need to make some serious cash if there is ever hope of producing a sequel. G.I. Joe (much like the superior Transformers) doesn’t really depend so much on critics as it does hardcore fanboys who eat up the merchandise like a dude eating a water ice on a hot summer day. The Rise of Cobra is the first live-action vehicle for the awesome figure and 80s cartoon of my youth, …

Baroness6 G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra. 80s HC Fan Review.
After 25 years and a year and a half waiting, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has finally hit the screens. The film had a strong start as they introduced the characters whom brought the cartoons, comic books and action figures to life. Although there were changes and other alterations from the actual characters—some of these changes were improvements on the originals.  Others were destructive.

As a fan since the beginning I’ve offered up some reviews of the current and past action figures; the animated movie and even a sealed specialty—rare Headman figure. I’m sure you, the reader is curious to …

The Informers Early DVD Review: The Informers

The Informers is an entertaining, though wildly uneven movie based on the novel of the same name by author Bret Easton Ellis. Ellis is an acquired taste (to say the least), whose novels are comprised mainly of rich, spoiled, and emotionally dead young adults having sex with each other, and doing as many drugs as possible. His novels do have a satirical bent that when adapted properly, can make for very entertaining movies. American Psycho benefited greatly from a sharp script and a terrific performance from Christian Bale. The Rules of Attraction is the best movie adaptation of an Ellis novel. …

gi joe sexy babes Movie Review: G.I. Joe

People were laughing at the G.I. Joe trailer when it was first released.  The special effects looked like crap and the acting was even worse.  As it was closing the release date, it was getting good buzz and it even got a 90% rating at Rotten Tomatoes at one point (Currently it’s at 39%, it didn’t help that Paramount didn’t screen it for the majority of the critics) . G.I. Joe  turned out to be the best movie of the summer, as it delivered thrills, explosions and cheesy one liners.

Plot from IMDB: An elite military unit comprised of special operatives …

Movie Review: Miss March

Movie Review: Miss March

miss march poster 0 Movie Review: Miss March

I must admit, after watching the preview for this movie, my mind was thinking, “Not this journey to find the girl and get laid crap again.” The truth is I enjoy these types of movies (Hey, most of us are on that journey). From Superbad, Eurotrip to American Pie, these horny characters are likeable, even when they act like little girls. And yes, it’s the same for Miss March.

These story arcs are pretty simple. Here’s a formula to break it down for you guys.

Guy is happy with girl.
Guy loses girl.
Guy tries to find girl as hilarity ensues.…

john hughes2 300x300 R.I.P. John Hughes

John Hughes, the director of 80’s teen flicks such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Breakfast Club, passed away yesterday at the age of 59.  He died of a  heart attack in New York City.  I’ve only seen a couple of his movies but the work I’ll remember the most from Hughes is Home Alone.  I remember getting Home Alone on video and watching it over and over again, especially the last 30 minutes.  What I loved about the movie was that I was rooting for Kevin and it had a very heart warming ending.  Thinking about it, it’s probably my …

Classic Movie Review: G.I. Joe The Movie!

In 1987 the animated Movie for G.I. Joe came out to a catchy theme song in the opening credit’s. From the beginning of the movie until the end, viewers were treated to some nice art and good animation. The cast included all the names from the TV show plus Don Johnson–star of “Miami Vice” as Lt. Falcon, Duke’s Half Brother. Also in the cast and well voiced was Burgess MeredithMickey in Rocky, Penguin in the 60’s Batman and a great actor all in all. Burgess was the evil Cobra La leader Golobulus. …

Movie Review: Funny People

funny people poster Movie Review: Funny People

Funny People is the latest film from comedy king, Judd Apatow (40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up). While it’s funny, the movie is more drama than a comedy.

Plot from IMDB: George (Adam Sandler) is a very successful stand up comedian who learns that he has an untreatable blood disorder and is given less than a year to live. Ira (Seth Rogen) is a struggling up-and-coming stand up comedian who works at a deli and has yet to figure out his onstage persona. One night, these two perform at the same club and George takes notice of Ira. George hires Ira …

Dakota Skye DVD Review: Dakota Skye (Indie Spotlight)

Dakota Skye has won a decent amount of attention on the festival circuit, where it has one six prizes. The premise is unique and engaging and the actors are generally good, but the movie gets tired extremely quickly. Skye’s hipster attitude and quirkiness are entertaining for a while, but they soon grow tiresome and even boring. The press release for the movie claims that it has the “charm of Juno and mixes in a little Heroes”. If only that were true. Juno (for its many flaws) was well-written and expertly cast, and “Heroes” was a good show at one point, with …
