Trick r Treat is being released straight to DVD after it was pushed back over and over by a careless studio. It was slated to be released way back in October 2007 to cash in on Halloween but constantly got pushed back before finally being dumped on DVD. That’s a shame because it’s a lot better than a lot of the torture porn garbage like SAW that is currently infesting the multiplexes these days. Whether it’s for 1/6th action figures or Disney, I love conventions!  This weekend, it was for COMICS!  The first ever Long Beach Comic Convention was held at the Long Beach Convention Center and plenty of stars showed up.  The convention focused more towards comics than pop culture.  Comic greats,  Stan Lee (Spider Man, Hulk), Jim Lee (X Men, All Star Batman & Robin) , Jeph Loeb (Batman: Hush, Red Hulk) and J. Writer/director Troy Duffy had a bonafide cult hit on his hands with The Boondock Saints. A direct to dvd action flick that has many ardent followers. Self-destructive asshole Troy Duffy’s rise and fall is brilliantly glimpsed in the documentary called “Overnight”, which chronicles how Boondock went from a high profile theatrical release to being a direct to DVD flick. The doc is a must-see.

Wow, this movie sucked.  The story starts with the economy in crisis and Lex Luthor elected for the third time as the U.S. President.  Then for unknown reason, he blames super heroes for the current economy problem and recruits “C” list heroes to fight for his cause.  Of course Superman and Batman are against this so they team up to uncover Luthor’s evil scheme.  The movie didn’t establish how Superman and Batman became partners. Supes just shows up at the Batcave like it’s his second home.  There are a lot of uninentional “Brokeback” moments between the characters, especially the sewer scene.  …

Michael Bay, the director of the craptastic Transformers 2, will be signing Blu Ray’s and DVD’s.  You can get a signed blu ray ($50) or DVD ($40) on his official site, michaelbay.com.  Although I hated Transformers 2, the sale is for a good cause.  All the  proceeds will go to Make A Wish Foundation.  You can also get a combo pack, which includes the original Transformers movie and Tyrese (“left cheek, let cheek” ) will sign the movies as well.  Here’s the link to the order page.

John Williams epic music from the Star Wars franchise will be played live starting this Thursday at the Arrowhead….I mean Honda Center in Anaheim.  The concert will feature a live orchestra with edited movie footage playing on a big screen.  Many fans have been asking if they’re only playing the prequel’s music and NO, they’re not.  They’re playing music from all of the movies.  The event will also feature Star Wars memorabilia such as costumes and props.  Make sure to visit starwarsinconcert.com for further details and also check when they’re stopping by your town.…
