Movie Review: The Crazies

Movie Review: The Crazies

HEADER copy Movie Review: The CraziesThe only thing scarier than the people you live with, are the creeps who live next door.  The Crazies is a fresh new twist on the zombie horror genre that delivers the suspense but doesn’t bring home the scares in the remake of George Romero’s 1973 cult classic.

Synopsis: A military aircraft carrying a biological weapon crashes near the small farming town of Ogden Marsh.  The toxins quickly spread through the city’s drinking water plaguing the towns inhabitants with insanity. The town sheriff, his wife, a nurse, and his deputy must avoid both the military and infection to escape with their …

Geek Ink: Steve Peterson

Geek Ink: Steve Peterson

When I asked people to submit their tattoos for my article, I underestimated the response I would receive.  I now have a full inbox waiting to be posted up for the next 3 or 4 segments.  One submission that stood out above the rest was Steve Peterson’s.

I intentionally sought Steve out, after scouring the internet for Geek Tattoos, I came upon his Zelda Windwaker back piece.  A few emails here and there, I finally got in contact with with Steve.  What he sent in was more than I could ask for .  It was like finding the Holy Grail of …

Tekken Japanese Trailer Looks Better

Tekken Japanese Trailer Looks Better

tekken00018 Tekken Japanese Trailer Looks Better

Yes, I’ve abandoned all expectations for any low-budget videogame-to-movie adaptations, but this little flick looks like it will be at least entertaining and fun. It’s looks to be more on the lines of Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive compared to The Legend of Chun Li and Dragonball: Evolution.

Looks like most of the cast has some background in martial arts. Jon Foo (Jin Kazama) trained in Wushu, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Heihachi Mishima) was Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat, Luke Goss (Steve Fox) was fist pumping with Wesley Snipes in Blade II, Cung Le (Marshall Law) is an MMA fighter, Gary

Geek Ink: Tattoos for the Nerdy and Geeky #1

There is nothing more permanent or public like a Tattoo.  In the movie Eastern Promises with Viggo Mortensen, one character explains that “Tattoos tell the story of your life.”  People you’ve lost,  places you’ve lived, things you’ve loved, obstacles you’ve over come.  They are living, breathing art.

To the Japanese, tattooing represents the very highest level of artistic expression.  There is a museum in Japan where there are galleries of human skin on display, it’s that serious.

Every year when I go to conventions I notice more and more ink, and whats awesome about Geek Tattoos are that they’re such a …

Movie Review: Shutter Island – Martin Scorsese Enters New Territory

Movie Review: Shutter Island – Martin Scorsese Enters New Territory

Martin Scorsese’s latest flick has him entering a new genre to tackle, a psychological thriller/drama. The trailer would have you believing this was a generic creepy movie, but with Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese on board, I expect a damn fine cinema experience. After the movie was over, my mind was racing all over with disturbing images embedded while I was trying to get a nice sleep. No it’s not a scary movie, it’s an intense one.
Leonardo DiCaprio is Teddy Daniels, a U.S. Marshal who travels to Shutter Island, a mental institution that’s isolated from everywhere, to investigate a missing …

Alice In Wonderland: First Clip

Alice In Wonderland: First Clip

Alice jpg Alice In Wonderland: First Clip

Here’s the first film clip released for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. In this clip, Alice is greeted by the Red Queen as Um from Umbridge. I don’t know about you, but it seems like Alice really likes to lose her clothes, judging from all the previews I’ve seen. Well it’s a good thing she’s 19, or else all of you will be going to jail!

Alice in Wonderland opens March 5, 2010 starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.…

Toy Story 3: Meet the Newest Characters

Howdy space rangers! Disney/Pixar has released these new character images for the upcoming Toy Story 3 flick. Meet Ken, Lots-O’-Huggin’ Bear, Buttercup and Peas-in-a-Pod, as they welcome Woody, Buzz and the gang into a new world away from Andy.

Move over Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, here comes the original teen heartthrob, Ken. Nothing says hotness like a scarf with an opened-up shirt and cuffed-up shorts.

Toy Story 3 Lots A Huggin Bear Toy Story 3: Meet the Newest Characters

Hmm, reminds me a lot of Stinky Pete, except he has a cane. Let’s see if he’ll turn out to be a pooper in the end.

Percy Jackson Movie Review: Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson is a likable, fast-paced fantasy movie based on a series of books for young adults that will no doubt be compared to the Harry Potter series. Percy Jackson plays as a lot less serious (and therefore a lot more fun) than the recent Harry Potter movies. The last few Potter movies are basically dark and endless, with little magic and a villain who just won’t die popping up again and again. Viewers looking forward to moving past the 3 hour Potter-fests should check out Percy Jackson. The movie is exciting, the special effects are good, and there’s a new …
