Squidbillies, the most screwed up animated show from Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim evening block was rather enjoyable for someone like myself who has never watched it before the DVD. Although I saw many commercials, I just didn’t have interest in it mainly because as a fan of Anime, I’ve become an animation snob and don’t care too much for something so primitive.

From Marvel, Madhouse and Sony comes the Blade Anime on DVD July 31st. This 2 disk set features all 12 episodes of the series and comes in a clam shell case with a disk on each side.

The Blade Anime has a very Japanese style story with a samurai theme to it. This is found more-so than in X-Men, Iron Man and even Wolverine—other Marvel series’ made into Anime.

The FP is a wacky little gem. An utterly ridiculous spoof of 80s movies where macho men from a near-future settle their differences over bouts of Beat Beat Revelation aka Dance Dance Revolution. It’s as fun and stupid as it sounds. The FP is one of those ready-made cult movies that some people will enjoy while others will scratch their heads in disbelief. Made on the cheap by The Trost Brothers (one of the brothers also stars in the movie), it’s a fun ride that pushes its one joke premise to the breaking point without totally sinking. “Got to get tough, YO JOE!” Man, was this a blast from the past, I remember 1991 where I was getting older and my interest was starting to wane from the usual cartoons; however, I never missed G.I. Joe.

The last 2 seasons of G.I. Joe were made by DiC who is famous for ‘Inspector Gadget’ and ‘Kidd Video’ and are known for really nice cartoon art and great voice acting and this final series of G.I. Joe really showcased some fine voice work.
