I thought I’d never say this but I’m more excited about Avengers than Dark Knight Rises.
Avengers comes out May 4, 2012.…
Grandmaster John Hackleman, known for training UFC fighters Chuck Lidell, Antonio Banuelos and Court McGee, celebrated the grand opening of his latest gym location in Henderson, (just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip) on Saturday. Hackleman is the founder of a school of martial arts known as Hawaiian Kempo.
“Hawaiian Kempo is a blend of KaJuKenBo, Boxing, Kickboxing, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Extreme Fitness ala CrossFit/CrossPit (Anaerobic, Aerobic, Plyometric, Strength training, Calisthenics). “ Hawaiian Kempo is different from, say, Ed Parker’s American Kenpo in that there are no katas to learn and the belt system is comprised of only three belts: …
There was an event in the UK where little kids were grappling inside a cage similar to the UFC. Mainstream news got a hold off it and makes it seem like these kids were punching each other. In reality, they were grapling with no striking involved. Check out this vid, making a big deal out of nothing:
In the clip, they make it seem like the kid is forced to fight that’s why he’s crying. Kids cry all the time when they get injured, hell I’d probably cry too if I broke something in my body. But these injuries can happen …
Yesterday was good news for MMA fans as UFC announced they signed Allistair Overeem to fight the villain that is Brock Lesnar. Overeem is a K-1, Dreams and Strikeforce heavyweight champ. Lesnar is the former UFC heavyweight champ before getting dominated by Cain Velasquez and losing in the first round. The two are set to fight at UFC 141 on December 29, 2011. Overeem is the favorite but I’m picking Lesnar to win this one. If Lesnar takes his time with his takedowns and not bum rush, he should be able to gas Overeem out.
Just when MMA fans were hyped …
UFC prez Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta (together with a bunch of Fox big wigs) announced at a press conference that the UFC will be appearing on network TV, Fox Sports, to be exact. Word has it the network contract is worth 1 million bucks a year. The seven year deal is to show 4 fights per year with 32 more shows to appear on Fox’s other channels including FX and Fuel TV. Although none of the matches have been decided yet, the first one will take place in Anaheim, CA on November 12.
In Spring 2012, the 15th …
UFC middleweight, Chael Sonnen, might not be the best fighter in his division but he’s the all time greatest trash talker. This guy has no shame whatsoever and that’s why people watch his fights. Keep in mind that Sonnen tested positive for roids when he fought Anderson Silva but he still talks like he’s the best fighter in the world. I always look forward to this guy’s interview, it’s damn entertaining:

As told by some of today’s best MMA fighters.
I was first influenced by Bruce Lee when I read The Tao of Jeet Kune Do. One can clearly see where he was headed with his fighting style. He was tinkering with grappling when nobody knew what it was.
Here’s a cool little video from GivemeFiveMan featuring characters from Fist Of The Northstart busting some MMA moves. It took the creator a long time creating the short clip:
“I can’t believe this 23 second clip took me 3 hours of photo-snapping. This stopmotion thing is hard…”…
How much does the Dallas Mavericks fans know about MMA? You’d be surprised!
