The first ever MMA Expo was held at Anaheim Convention Center over the weekend. Went on Saturday. Got at the convention center around 1:30. The expo was smaller than I thought, it was only in one hall. Just to give you how small that is, Anime Expo covers the whole convention center.

First thing we did was walk around and looked for some grappling shorts. Went to Dan Henderson’s booth, Clinch Gear and they had a pair for $40. Me and my brother both bought one. The guy at the booth gave us both a $25 shirt for free. Great deal! …

UFC 77: Hostile Territory Predictions

richfranklin UFC 77: Hostile Territory Predictions

This event looks pretty weak. Nothing too exciting. Without further ado, below are my predictions:

Rich Franklin vs. Anderson Silva
Silva has been impressive ever since he came to the UFC in July of 06. Finishing all four of his fights, one by submission and three by knockout. One of those knockout victims was against Franklin. In their first fight, Franklin was the champion and Silva was the challenger. Even though Franklin took the high road and never made any excuses, he did not look healthy. He looked sick and did not move the way he usually does, agile and precise …

Couture done with UFC.

Couture done with UFC.

randy Couture done with UFC.

Randy Couture, the only fighter in UFC to hold belts in different weight divisions, resigns. Couture said he was constantly getting screwed by Zuffa’s management, owner of the UFC. He didn’t appreciate constantly being lied to and the politics they played. Couture also felt he didn’t have challenge anymore since Fedor Emelianenko (Pride FC Champ), did not sign with UFC. Instead, Fedor signed with M-1, an organization that is rumored to have been bought by Mark Cuban and Vince McMahon. Couture has also been part of the commentating team for the main event fights.

DAMNNNNN! That’s what I said when my …

Earlier today I went to the Honda Center with my brother and a couple of friends for the UFC Weigh In. My goal was to get my Wanderlei Silva figure signed but was not sure he was going to be at the event. Arrived at the arena around 2:30 and there were more people than I thought. There were huge lines just to get the best seats. As we were walking around the arena, I saw Frank Trigg mingling with the fans and a long line for autographs. Three fighters were signing: Josh Koscheck, Joe Stevenson and WANDERLEI SILVA!

UFC 75: Champion vs Champion was a great event. It revealed what we will be seeing in the future:

Rampage is back. He is the real deal and his win against Chuck Liddell was not a fluke. What impressed me the most about his fight against Henderson was his stamina.

Henderson is also a great fighter. He was way smaller than Rampage and won two out of the five rounds. Very explosive with his punches as well. Expect him to give Anderson Silva trouble if he goes down to 185.

Crocop is an idiot. It seemed like he does not want …

UFC 75 Predictions: Champion vs. Champion

UFC 75 Predictions: Champion vs. Champion

I don’t have much time to write for this event since I’ve been busy so it’ll be short and sweet.

Jackson/ Henderson
Henderson by decision.  Henderson is underrated because he is not an exciting fighter but he is very technical.  Besides knocking out Liddell, Jackson hasn’t been impressive the past two years.  Maybe his new trainer, Juanito has motivated him again but I got Henderson on this one.

Hamill/Bisping
I don’t really know who Hamill is but I think he has a good shot of beating Bisping.  Bisping almost got submitted in his last fight.  I’m picking an upset.

Cro Cop/ …

UFC 74 Predictions

ufc74 UFC 74 Predictions

It has been about 5 weeks since the last UFC event. Add to the fact that Pride FC is pretty much done and has not had events in months and you have one hungry MMA fan. UFC 73 was pretty uneventful and lop-sided for the most part. When it wasn’t lop-sided we had a draw between Ortiz and Evans. Both fighters wanted rematch after the fight but I don’t think the fans want it. The fight showed that Ortiz has always been overrated and Evans is a boring fighter.

Enough with my rant and let’s look ahead to this Saturday’s event, …

Last Tuesday on myspace, I found out Josh Barnett was going to teach at Erik Paulson’s(Barnett’s main trainer) school on Wednesday. Since Erik Paulson’s school is about 25 minutes from where I live, I decided to check it out.

Most MMA North American fans has probably never heard of Josh Barnett since he mostly fights in Japan. So let me tell you a little bit about Barnett. He is one of the top 5 MMA heavyweights in the world. He was a former UFC Heavyweight champ beating Randy “The Natural” Couture. After not getting along with the UFC president, Dana White. …

UFC 73 Predictions

ufc logo UFC 73 Predictions

This event has some well known fighters and should be decent at best. Antonio “Minautoro” Nogueira will make his UFC debut and should impress the crowd. We have two title fights in Silva/Marquardt and Sherk/Franca. The best match of the night should be Ortiz/Evans. Here we go with my predictions:

Silva vs. Marquardt
Silva by tko in the second round. Marquardt’s training camp has been on a losing streak ever since Diego Sanchez lost and it will continue. Marquardt’s only chance of winning this match is a submission. Silva is still training with the Nog brothers in bjj and should be …

sham baroni Strikeforce Elite XC Predictions: Shamrock vs. Baroni

I’m really looking forward to this card. Unlike the last UFC event, this event has potential to deliver exciting fights. Furthermore, some of the matches are evenly matched. The event will be held tomorrow, 6/22/07. Keep in mind that the undercard will be shown on Showtime for free at 5p/8e, while the last 4 fights will be shown on PPV for $35 at 7p/10e. This will be a tough card to call, but here we go:

Edit: this will be a five rounder and for the Strikeforce Middleweight Belt

Frank Shamrock vs. Phil Baroni
Prediction: Phil Baroni by decision. Shamrock …
