DVD Review: Never Back Down

DVD Review: Never Back Down

51sALQ9RkOL. SS500 DVD Review: Never Back Down

Never Back Down defines the guilty pleasure movie. It’s not particularly original or well-acted, but it’s a lot of fun, as long as you don’t take it too seriously.  It tries to preach anti-violence but the story is really just an excuse for a lot of mixed martial arts mayhem set to hipster alt-rock music.  Never Back Down mixes older (and better) films into a blender and hits the mix button.  Every note of the film is predictable (training montage, geeky Emo kid being used as bait), but the film is enjoyable anyway.  Never Back Down looks good, its well-shot and …

Affliction: Banned Experience

Affliction: Banned Experience

fedor sylvia Affliction: Banned Experience

I was hoping I would get cheap tickets for the event since it seemed no one knew about the event. Get them cheap from the scalpers. My brother and I drive down to Honda Center. Meet up with a couple of our friends. Cheapest tickets we could get were $60 and it was in the bleachers. I could have gotten it at that price at the box office two weeks before the event. I was hoping for $30 tickets but no scalper offered it. Even the $60 tickets weren’t together. It seemed like Affliction gave a shitload of comps or it …

Starting next week we’ll start reviewing MMA DVD’s. The site will rate the event and presentation(video, audio, extras) of the DVD’s. UFC 84: Ill Will Predictions

UFC 84: Ill Will Predictions

ufc84 UFC 84: Ill Will Predictions

UFC has their biggest event of the year come Saturday. We finally have a good title match and a couple of interesting matches on the undercard. UFC should watch out with boring and predictable events because Elite XC and Affliction are making a hard push into the MMA scene. Without further ado, here are my predictions:

BJ Penn Vs. Sean Sherk

If BJ Penn didn’t have a problem with gassing in his previous fights, this would be a very easy call. Sherk is the opposite, he’s a cardio machine and this is why it’s an interesting fight. If Sherk can weather …

Fedor Emelianenko

For me, yesterday was Affliction day. Affliction is holding their first MMA event at the Honda Center on July 19th. Yesterday was the first day it sold tickets to the public. The main event willl have my favorite fighter, Pride FC champ, Fedor Emelianenko face former UFC champ, Tim Sylvia.

Went to Honda Center so I don’t have to pay the absurd ticketmaster charges. I tell the cashier I want the $50 seats. She said it’s sold out since only about 8 rows were available for that price. The rest of the rows are $100 but on the same …

UFC 83 Predictions: Serra vs St.-Pierre 2

UFC 83 Predictions: Serra vs St. Pierre 2

After a great card on free tv, UFC arrives for the first time in Canada for the next PPV event. The tickets sold out in minutes as their hometown hero, St. Pierre tries to reclaim his belt against the somewhat cocky/over confident Matt Serra. Without further ado, below are my predictions:

Matt Serra Vs. Georges St-Pierre
Even though Serra is the welterweight champion, he is still the underdog. Many fans thought Serra’s TKO over St. Pierre in their first match was a fluke. For me, it wasn’t a fluke. Serra’s boxing looked great but I don’t think St.-Pierre will make the …

UFC 82: Pride of A Champion Predictions

This is the first UFC event of the year that is significant. In the past couple of months, we saw BJ Penn rape Joe Stevenson and Brock Lesnar tapping to Frank Mir, but did MMA fans really care? The answer is HELL NO, althought I have to admit, I was happy when Nogueira beat Sylvia. But tomorrow, we’ll see a main event that every fan will be interested in. Without further ado, here are my predictions:

Anderson Silva Vs. Dan Henderson
Two time simultaneous Pride FC Champ(middleweight and light heavyweight), Dan Henderson will try to get a .500 record when defending …

liddellsilva UFC 79: Nemesis Predictions

I hope all of you guys had a great Christmas! This month ends with a bang with one of the greatest UFC cards in history. Will it be the best? I hope so, on paper, this event looks solid from beginning to end. I’m very excited about this event. Without further ado, here are my predictions:

Matt Hughes vs. Georges St-Pierre
This will be for the interim belt and the rubber match between the two fighters. Originally it was supposed to be Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra. But since Serra got injured a couple of weeks ago, St-Pierre stepped up to …
