As you may notice on the site, there’s a couple of De La O Jiu-Jitsu banners on the site.  That’s because I train with school.  It also helps that the owner, John (“Iron Man is a villain!”), is a big nerd and he supports the site.

I’ve edited a lot of videos and this was the most fun because it was personal.  It was cool seeing old fight footage as well as the hard and fun training everyone in the school goes through.

Boxing and HBO has been together for years. When one combines boxing with HBO’s production style, this is what one gets. King Of The Cage: Mercenaries was held at the San Manuel Casino in Highland, CA.  The night was full of entertaining matches and a main event that lived up to the hype.

John De La O vs. Brandon Anderson
Grappling master De La O defeated Anderson with a first round half mount  guillotine.  De La O got the takedown early and did plenty of ground and pound before the submission.

One would expect two business moguls like Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta to handle any disagreements in the boardroom. But considering the fact that these two gazillionaires own the Ultimate Fighting Championship, it kinda figures that they would want to hash it out in the octagon. Having trained together for years anyway, the Fertitta brothers had a family lawyer draft a contract stipulating that if the siblings were ever to disagree over the direction of the UFC, they would go for three rounds of jiu-jitsu in the ring with Dana White refereeing.

Congrats to Henry Corrales, Melissa Steele and the De La O camp for going 2-0 at Long Beach Fight Night!

Melissa had a see-saw battle but her persistence and ground game proved to be the factor in her win.

Henry dominated the first round with ground and point. In the second round, he got hit with a head kick and almost guillotined.  Henry fought through the choke, got back on his feet and got the win with his own guillotine.

Once again, I stopped by the De La O dojo to check out the intense training of Henry Corrales and Melissa Steele.  They’re both fighting at Long Beach Fight Night this Sunday.  It was sparring day at the training camp.  It was an intense 2 hours as the fighters took on different sparring partners every 5 minutes.  There was a break at the hour mark but overall, it was a test of heart and endurance as the sparring partners went hard.  To no one’s surprise, both fighters never gave up and even dominated majority of the sparring.

UFC welterweight champ and all around good guy, Georges St. Pierre is not impressed with this:

But he is impressed with a new game from Square Enix called Sleeping Dogs.  From the description and footage of the game, it looks like GTA but set in Hong Kong.  And just like a Jackie Chan flick, the player can use the environment to beat up the villains including phone booths and fridge doors.  GSP is the fight consultant of the game and said:
