Former MMA fighter Viacheslav Datsik  escaped from a mental hospital in St. Petersburg, Russia.  Datsik is known for his wild antics and knocking out former UFC heavyweight champ, Andrei Arlovski 11 years ago.  While Datsik was entertaining, his crappy record of 4-9, led him to steal cell phones so he could make money.  Datsik was caught and the courts found him to be unstable.  So they placed him in a low level mental ward where supposedly he killed some inmates.  Yesterday he escape from the ward by cutting the chain link fence.   After the escape, he was already reported to …

So today, I went to the 99¢ store to kill some time.  As I was browsing the store, I passed by the book section and found this masterpiece:

There’s a first time for everything, and that’s a first in the UFC, or MMA for that matter! Sonnen’s antics that night reminded me of Sakuraba, the guy who popularized the cartwheel, and the double hand-chops!

Everytime I watch an MMA event, I always compare fighters to video game characters.  “Look, that guy looks like Roufus” as Roy “Big Country” Nelson flattens out his opponent with his stomach.  While some fighters have the persona to be in a video game, other fighters look exactly like characters from fighting games.  Strunger from Sherdog, decided to make renditions of MMA fighters with  characters from Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat and below are the results:

Firstly, this was an amazing event. Leading up to the fight, I had no interest in the card. I mean who really gave a hoot that Chael Sonnen gets a title-shot against Anderson Silva. But, as time went by, Sonnen’s off-beat comments about Silva made this card more and more appealing. Sonnen commented, “Everybody says he’s a great fighter, but when did he ever fight?” I actually predicted Sonnen to win via SD, I came close to predicting one of the greatest upsets in MMA history. Then….

Jason David Frank (1-0) aka Tommy from the Power Rangers, won his first MMA pro fight.  Frank played the cool Green and White Ranger in the original U.S. Power Rangers show.  He beat his opponent Jose Vasquez (0-1) in 46 seconds with a rare naked choke in the main event of Puro Combate.  The Green Ranger whooped ass back in the 90’s and he did it again last night controlling the fight from the get go, getting the takedown and finishing off his opponent.

Now…

Frank was 4-0 in amateur MMA before going pro with all his wins …
