strikeforce STRIKEFORCE: Diaz vs. Noons II Predictions
Showtime – Saturday, Oct. 9th, 10p PT/ET

Nick Diaz vs. KJ Noons – A rematch between the two welterweights. The first fight ended with Diaz losing due to a cut. I think that Diaz would’ve won if it wasn’t for the cut. He has more experience, a better resume, more versatile, and more well-rounded than Noons. Noons is a good boxer, but that’s about it. He hits hard, but Diaz has been hit hard before (see Gomi fight), and ended up winning the fight.
Diaz by TKO – Rd. 4

Josh Thomson vs. JZ Cavalcante – Cavalcante is a powerhouse when …

UFC’s Dana White To Be Honored

UFC’s Dana White To Be Honored

dana UFC’s Dana White To Be Honored

UFC president, Dana “Do you want to be a f’king fighter?” White, will be awarded with the Game Changer Award at the 2010 Sports Media Marketing Awards in New York City next month.  The award show will  recognize the innovators in sports and it’ll be hosted by comedian Jay Mohr.  I’m happy Dana White is getting this award.  He might come off as an arrogant prick but he made MMA, a respectable sport.  Before Zuffa (Fertita Brothers and White) took over the UFC, the organization was going downhill.  The show Ultimate Fighter brought new fans to MMA and ever since then, …

UFC’s Chael Sonnen Punk’d Twice In One Week

UFC’s Chael Sonnen Punk’d Twice In One Week

Sonnen UFCs Chael Sonnen Punkd Twice In One Week

Last week, I talked how UFC’s stand up comedian, Chael Sonnen, became a legitimate threat against Anderson Silva.  Well maybe I spoke too soon.  This week, the California State Athletic Commission announced that Sonnen tested positive for steroids.  The fight was almost two months ago but the commission didn’t announce it right away because they wanted to double check.  Sonnen tested for a second time and the results were the same.   He’ll probably be suspended for a year.

As if that wasn’t enough, a video came out of mad dog gramps (joking of course, he’s one of  my favorite fighters), …

UFC 119: Mir vs. Crocop Predictions

UFC 119: Mir vs. Crocop Predictions

ufc 119 poster UFC 119: Mir vs. Crocop Predictions

Frank Mir vs. Mirko Cro Cop (Main Event) – I really don’t get why this is a Main Event match-up. Both fighters aren’t necessarily “top-contenders” anymore. In their last outings, Mir got KOd by Shane Carwin, and Crocop won a weird fight against Barry. Barry already won that fight, but showed too much respect for Crocop by not finishing Crocop while he was dazed. Like I said, not “top-contenders.” But, this will still be a good fight. Mir is a cocky fighter, and I think that he will stand with Crocop, and win via KO. Mir has the youth, and the …

UFC’s Stand Up Comedian: Chael Sonnen

UFC’s Stand Up Comedian: Chael Sonnen

The once boring and  unimpressive Chael Sonnen is taking UFC by storm.  Sonnen used to be a boring wrestler that got subbed every other fight.  But all of that changed when he got a title shot against Anderson Silva. He started talking smack to other fighters and athletes like Lance Armstrong (which Sonnen denies, even though it was audio recorded).  Some of the stuff he says is absurd but that’s what makes Sonnen so entertaining.  He also proved that he can back up his talk by dominating Anderson Silva for 4 and a half rounds before getting triangled.

Here’s Sonnen’s latest …

Jason David Frank aka the Green/White Ranger was spending his Labor Day weekend with fans in Sin City for Anime Vegas.   Over course of the convention, Frank was busy answering questions from fans and signing autographs.  His Q & A was great because he was really enthusiastic and  he loves the fans.  While most of the questions was about Power Rangers, I decided to talk to him about his future in MMA.

Below is the interview:

I really didn’t expect Strikeforce to be contacting him this early in this MMA career but I’m excited about the news.  If he keeps …

Power Rangers Convention – Morphicon

Power Rangers Convention – Morphicon

Pasadena, CA – Power Morphicon has come and gone, it was a mid-size event with a very good turnout. There were cosplayers, action figures, and Power Rangers from different generations signing autographs for the excited fans. I’m glad to say that Power Rangers is still kickin today, I remembered watching the shows afters school when it first came out. Of course, tons of Power Rangers have come and gone, but nothing stuck in people’s minds like Tommy, the Green Ranger. He was there and got the longest line for autographs. In case you didn’t know, he’s now a professional MMA …

Movie Review: The Expendables

Movie Review: The Expendables

Expendables 1 Movie Review: The Expendables

The Expendables is a throwback to the mindless 80s big budget action movies that I grew up watching. Sly Stallone has assembled a massive group of action stars (past and present) and tossed them into a stew of macho ultraviolence. The Expendables delivers the goods and I have high hopes that the sequel will be even better. Stallone’s cast includes a magnetic Dolph Lundgren (as the requiste loose cannon), Jet Li, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis (in an amusing cameo with Ahnold himself), and Mickey Rourke as a weirdo tattoo artist who goes method about loving and losing women and gives an …

UFC’s Chuck Liddell Shaves Mohawk

UFC’s Chuck Liddell Shaves Mohawk

Former UFC light heavyweight champ, Chuck Liddell, shaved off his trademark mohawk today.  Liddell is working with razor company, Bic, to promote their youth charity.  For every shaved head that gets submitted to BIC4good, the company will donate to money to dosomething.org.

Here’s the link to the video.

Chuck Liddell looks intimidating when he’s in the Octagon but when he’s not fighting, he’s really approachable and talks to his fans.  I’m not surprised at all that he’d do this for a charity!…

Monster Brawl: Let’s get ready to grumble!

monsterbrawlteaserart crop crop1 Monster Brawl: Lets get ready to grumble! Set in a make-shift wrestling ring in a graveyard, Monster Brawl is a mock-documentary about a fight club for monsters which is currently in production.  Some of the contenders will include zombies, werewolves, Frankenstein, and Dracula and the action will culminate in a blow-out match for Pay-Per-View.  Almost sounds surreal, right?  Frankenstein fighting Dracula is kinda like an old-skool version of Jason Voorhees vs. Freddy Krueger.

Cast list includes one of my favorite comedians from Kids in the Hall Dave Foley, Lance Henriksen (who played the android Bishop in Aliens), Wrestling manager the “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart, former …
